The quote is from my favorite movie, "The Last Unicorn," and I thought it fit P03 surprisingly well.
I've always been super fascinated by the concept of taking an immortal being and forcing them into a mortal shell and how that changes them irreversibly. And how they're never really able to go back to how they used to be.
Basically, P03 knows what pain and dying feel like now. And that is so interesting to me, because that fact probably played a huge part in his decision-making. His survival instinct kicked in. I could ramble on about this. I'm better at putting my thoughts into drawings, though. But the point still stands. This robot is SO not well...
Hey you. Yeah you. Amazing art. And you are correct. But just don't think too deeply about all that, or else you might consider that G0lly is defined by her "innocence" (which P03 is openly disgusted by) and her curiosity, and one of her first moments is her observing a mole– one of Leshy's beasts– and having a positive reaction to it. THAT'LL send you down a whole OTHER rabbit hole where you might observe that P03 is the only robot among the Scrybes, and the only one designed to be handled by others, given his buttons and levers. If you let your mind wander there, you'll realize that making G0lly dependent on others compliments her curious mind and endlessly cheery attitude. You might remember the optional boss fight in Act 3 against the Mycologists and how easily P03 can just. Completely lose his autonomy compared to the other Scrybes, specifically because he is a robot and because he was designed to be controlled by others. And THEN you're COMPLETELY fucked. You start to think about how P03's open resentment of Leshy and his beasts stems directly from Leshy taking P03's autonomy, AGAIN, and forcing him to be the complete opposite of everything he once was. Grimora at least has a close proximity to death, and Magnificus at least has a close proximity to suffering, but by the time of Act 1, P03 has been forced into an endless and completely foreign cycle of suffering and death. If you think about that too much, you realize that Leshy probably did the worst thing he could possibly ever do to P03 specifically. You might remember that he says to Leshy in Act 2, "I'm not your pet", and that even Leshy admits after he leaves that he's taken things too far this time. But he doesn't reflect. You'll remember that all the other Scrybes openly despise P03 and regard him as the worst one, the only machine, the only one who was designed to never have control nor freedom, and whose ultimate plan was called The Great Transcendence, where P03 transcends from that vulnerable state to have all the control over all the games forever. And you'll realize that he doesn't mechanize or capture the other Scrybes to do this, even when he rewrites the world, because even though everyone calls him the worst Scrybe, unlike Leshy, he expresses exactly 0 interest in forcing the other Scrybes to be what they aren't. You might think that he respects them to a degree, designing his bosses after each of them and only finding the one based on himself to be the one he likes least.
And then you remember that their response to his plans are to immediately conspire together and rip his godamn head off his body. And then you go online to see what other people have to say and realize that everyone just took the Scrybes' word at face value and also think P03 is the worst, and reduce him to "haha meme character he's so stinky I hate him I hate him I hate him and I loveeeee Leshy" and then y
