I’ve been an avid fandom hopper for a painfully long while and I’m proud to say this is the one I plan to stick around in. It’s been a wild ride so far and I hope you’ll stay with me for more fun! Having prior set his tome down and knelt along the ground beside her, Odin began to wrap a makeshift bandage around the area of a cut upon her leg. He was no healer; though he wasn’t entirely ignorant when it came to treating cuts such as this one. For - if she was to walk with him to the nearest person able to properly provide her aid, that wound would have to be kept as clean as possible.

The more Odin thought about it - he had not seen this dancer before. Though perhaps it had been a little unrealistic for him to expect to have known all of Nohr’s soldiers. It puzzled him that there was no one there to guard her, however. As it had only been by a mere chance that he was nearby to stop the sudden enemies from attacking her.

Her pained words brought a frown to his lips, and he quickly responded. “Forgive me - but it is imperative that I tend to your wounds! Do you know if you can stand?”

“I promise, Luna.. it’s - Agh!” Odin’s words had been short lived, pain washing over his features as he moved to hold a hand against the gash left in his arm. Though this did not stop the blood of the wound from seeping through the fabric around the tear in his robes, and - alright, maybe it had not just been a scratch. 

But how lucky he had been to narrowly escape a fatal swipe of the enemy’s blade.. Had Luna not been there with him... 

“Gods.. This should not have happened.. I..” At least the battle was over now, though he felt ashamed of himself for missing the enemy that had been sneaking up on him..

“Father!” Owain called out, excitedly trotting on over to him. He lifted a heavy tome up to him between two hands, contents containing passages belonging to the magic of wind. “The meticulous steps to casting Elwind you had once bestowed upon me....... Have escaped my memory!”

The sincerity of his retainer’s smile did not go unnoticed. Even so, the familiar surge of magic humming within his chest asserted itself beneath his ribs as Odin trotted an inch too close beside Leo, looking just as eager as a puppy (and at this moment, Leo briefly considered the consequences of his apparent adoption). His fingertips burned with a cautious anticipation and the prince resisted the temptation to flex his hand in an attempt to soothe the magic blood buzzing underneath his skin.

“Have you visited the records hall, Odin?” Leo’s mistrust was not evident in his behavior. Although he had not yet instilled his trust in the other man, virtually a complete stranger, he was not cruel enough to cast judgement without reason. Naive he was not, but unreasonable was just as great a crime. Ignorance was a beast of many masks– Leo would be the last to fall prey to its deceptions. 

He allowed the steady rhythm of his heels against the corridor’s floors to occupy the air for a brief moment before speaking again, this time turning his head to meet his adherent’s eye. 

“You’re into noble tales and legends, aren’t you? I would think that you’d be interested in burying your face in the castle’s books.” 

There was little the Nohrian royal knew of his newest retainer apart from his passion for storytelling and glaring oddities, but it would be a blatant lie to claim that he was primarily interested in a heart-to-heart or getting to know Odin through small talk contrived while pawing at dictionaries. He wanted to trust him.

That, however, was up to Odin. Not Leo.

Perhaps he had ulterior motives at the heart of his invitation to bond over filtering fingers through the pages of novels, but Leo truly did wish to understand the swordsman as best he could. Whether or not this desire was born of genuine interest in Odin’s personality or unearthing his secrets was irrelevant to Leo.

The records hall? More he thought about it, Odin really hadn’t seen the entirety of the castle. Sure, he’d been given a tour of key chambers, and any left out of this ( the records hall a prime example ) had been described to him through words, but there was quite a large sum that his eyes had not yet seen. He hoped that in time these unfamiliar walls would become second nature.. It would only be fitting, as this was to be his new home ( at least for a while. )

Things were a lot different here, but the aura surrounding Nohr felt very familiar to him in some odd kind of way. It brought back a certain nostalgia - as if this kingdom held the same aura as the hellish future he was born into.. Perhaps the feeling was also driven by the fact that he was sent here with the others to protect it should things go awry, much like they’d done so for the future of Ylisse. Though despite the atmosphere being so... mysterious - he felt welcomed.. ( and definitely not endangered.. ) Especially with a mage as powerful and wise as Lord Leo around.

Which had been all the more reason to keep him safe. The kingdom could not lose a royal holding such great assets. And really, Odin was more than glad to have found a purpose again... 

It had been the word of legends that led to a notable sparkle in Odin’s eye, mouth seeming to fall into the form of an ‘O’ in response. If they had not been walking, the retainer would have undoubtedly leaned in closer. He’d always been interested in mythology, and he was sure that Nohr had a whole new set of tales for him to discover.

In truth, it was in these over-the-top stories that he could find the hope to overcome the reality of the world surrounding him. This had been a habit Odin developed as a young boy.

“I fear I have yet to visit this hall of myths, milord! It is true - I do so very fancy a good tale! And I would simply revel in your permission to plunder the passages encompassed in the grand library of Nohr..”

She listened carefully. Ah, so this was it. The strange reason he chose to scream out what seemed like a jumble of words. He firmly believed that granted him more power. “I see… I never thought of it that way,” Azura’s hand slipped up her arm to her shoulder where she thought for a brief moment. Her curiosity was killing her; she needed to know why he was practicing with a sword. She always felt a strange attraction to Odin; he was almost as mysterious as her.

“Odin,” her tone lowered for a moment, “May I ask why you were practicing with a sword? Do you wish to learn swordplay? Or…” she trailed off, unsure if she should really pry into the mage’s life. 

Oh! She has to know! Besides, she could possibly understand - after all, she couldn’t breathe a word about the origin of her existence even if she wanted to. She continued, “Do you perhaps already know how to handle a blade?”

At first, he was startled by her questioning - initially thinking that she might have been searching for information regarding his past.. But upon further mulling over, he found that this wasn’t necessarily the case! It was not as though she was asking of his origin - simply of his skill with a sword ( ; something that he had most certainly possessed ! )

Odin’s smile grew genuine, the whites of his teeth becoming visible in a toothy grin. “You are not mistaken! There was a time in my past - before I began to practice the art of witchcraft -when I had walked the path of the mighty swordsmaster! I was renowned for my skill with the blade, blood curdling with the strength of my heritage, and propelling me to complete a grand quest!” He lifted a hand to his face once more, though this time behind a face of a pure confidence.

He was lucky that anything he’d said could be taken as an exaggeration. Though, even if he hadn’t been revealing much, this still had its risks.

In a quick motion, he bent down to pick up the wooden sword that had since fallen to the ground, then placed himself in a position that looked as though he was ready to strike an invisible enemy. However, rather than giving a fierce glare suited for the heat of battle, his face was illuminated by the curve of a grin.

“How were you aware? Could you tell simply from my stance?”

Resting with his son in his lap the tactician knew a carriage ride would calm the Myrmidon, it had been a long tedious day of training for the two. Tutoring in the arcane arts had drained him beyond belief. Exhausted himself the father didn’t wish to show Owain that he too was close to his limits. Rather he had taken the ride himself to relax and recuperate. Believing today was going to be left with no progress Hiro was left astounded, it had only taken a few hours for the swordsman to be able to cast a proper spell. Truly the mix of fell and royal blood was a blessing, the power of a dragon mixed with that of a king. In only a few years it would be highly likely Owain would surpass even himself. All the work and dreams Hiro had held, now left to this child, his legacy he would leave on this world.Not knowing his past, only a song or two and a name, this was all he could give the boy. Knowledge and memories such as this stolen. He felt blessed at least one of his children could live with peace, knowing his past couldn’t be taken from him; knowing those memories would never be forgotten. 

Letting Owain continue on with his marry dreams, the man couldn’t help but tear up, thinking of all the great and astounding things Owain would be able to accomplish. Truly no matter how he acted in front of others Hiro believed that this boy…this perfect son would be a great man. Looking up the  knew nothing else to do but leave with a song. One of lullabies Hiro learned as time went on, rather then the one engraved into his mind he decided on a much more appropriate ballad,

    Leo sighed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes before pushing his chair back to stand. He’d hardly gotten any worthwhile sleep due to simply passing out on his work, but as Odin said, another day was approaching. He’d even kept his armor on to keep from falling asleep, but it didn’t work. What a shame- he’d have to put in extra work today so he could sleep at a normal time.

    “I can say with confidence that it’s not quite a ritual.” Sure, he didn’t exactly have healthy sleeping habits – work always came first, but this was only one of the few times he’d managed to fall asleep while working. As an afterthought, he added, “…please keep what you’ve seen from everyone else, Odin.”

    As he spoke, attempting to stir himself awake, he began to shuffle his papers together, organizing the ones that had scattered when he’d fallen asleep. 

    “…Ah, I’d nearly forgotten to ask- did you rest well?”

A puzzled look overcame him as he was told to remain silent about the circumstances of the situation. It wasn’t as though Leo had done anything wrong… Sure, this hadn’t been the best place to rest, but sleep was necessary. Perhaps Leo hadn’t wanted anyone to worry over him? The thought caused Odin’s eyebrows to knit together.. If that had been the case, he began to do the very thing that the prince had not wished for others to.

This hadn’t restricted him from doing as his liege instructed, however.

“Very well, milord… Word of your peculiar slumber shall not reach the ears of another..” The retainer promised, tilting his head a little as he did so. It was admirable to see how hard the prince worked. It was almost familiar - what - with how many times Odin had woken up to a face full of journal back in Ylisse ( and regrettably smudging into the ink written the night prior. ) He had known that it was hard not to get caught up in things like this. Studying, writing, creating. They all called for attention that could speed up time in a way that may wind up unnoticed.

But that had not meant that dozing off to wake up still immersed in the task was healthy or comfortable.

Thus it was surprising ( and a little amusing ) to find that Leo wished to hear how Odin had slept. “Oh - Well I am happy to inform you that I slept like a babe! I rose early.. Which is why you find me here so early in the morn...” He gave a curt smile, eyes shifting again towards the papers being stacked together amongst the prince’s hold. “What primeval tomes had you set out to decipher this time, milord?”
