Understand that there is a beast within you that can drink till it is sick, but cannot drink till it is satisfied. Understand that it will use the conventions of the visible world to turn your tongue to stone. It alone knows you. It does not wish you well.

i think that sometimes the best thing that you can do is remind yourself that there are beaches. lakes, rivers, and ponds. there are forests. little woods and meadows. there are canyons. gullies and mountain cliffs. there are rainy days. dry spells and scorching blue skies. that the world turns. changes as much as it repeats. that feeling slow today won't stop tomorrow's high tide. won't make july's blackberries any less ripe

Critiquing Regency Romance for historical accuracy is like going to Medieval Times and whining about how the special "elixir" is actually Dr Pepper and they didn't drink that in the real medieval times
It's a genre of alternate history or fantasy, not historical novels. It follows the template of 20th c. writer Georgette Heyer having fun with fancy people in the past, not Jane Austen writing about her own time period or someone modern going for a historical novel with fidelity to the past.
Some romance writers aim for more Austen-esque books and do a lot of research and that's great - but the baseline of the genre is fantasy au/alternate history
