i do see both bill & ford as consummate monsterfuckers; but being monsterfuckers isn't what attracts them to each other, like, they didn't look at each other and instantly go "WOW! now that's one HOT FREAK! 💕😍🥵" They're attracted to each other because they're intellectually simpatico.

but i do think the monstrosity was a prerequisite. in the same way that a straight guy is sexually/romantically attracted to girls: that doesn't mean he's attracted to ALL girls just for being girls—but if the straight guy forms an emotional bond with someone, if they aren't a girl, then that bond would never develop into sexual/romantic attraction.

bill & ford weren't drawn to each other because each was a monsterfucker who saw the other as a monster—like, they've both got freaks at home, they don't need to jump on the first alien who passes the harkness test. however, if they hadn't been monsters to each other—if they'd been the same species—nothing would ever happen between them.
