“When we fulfill our function, which is to truly love ourselves and share love with others, then true happiness sets in” . . . #gabriellebernstein (this self-proclaimed spirit junkie is one hell of a human, and I highly recommend listening to her speak or diving into one of her books if you’re looking for something spiritually juicy) 😏🖤 #spreadinglove
I firmly believe in dancing when you don’t feel like it, crying when you do feel like it, a cold beer after a long day and a bath when your body is begging you for one. Our body, mind and spirit gives us subtle signs when they need tending to; and even occasionally smacks us in the face with them.. when it’s absolutely necessary {getting a cold or flu being a prime example of your body asking you to slow the F down and take better care of yourself} So for 2018!!!!!...... Stop treating yourself like an asshole and give your body and mind a break when it’s needed. Admittedly, a reminder I need pretty often🙋♀️Yeah, me, hi 🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️ Have a fucking awesome NYE, everyone!
This morning, my Dad unloaded something he was frustrated with. I stayed quiet, just let him speak. I couldn’t help but notice he was starting to spiral😬🌪...repeating himself... getting worked up... And then!!! Something BEAUTIFUL happened. 🛑🤚🏻He stopped himself. Took a breath. (Unnecessarily apologized to me, but he’s human, and Canadian so his DNA is sorry).. ANYWAY. 👉🏼Point is: He said he felt better after letting it out. And acknowledged that was all he needed to do. He released it! HOW BEAUTIFUL IS THAT☺️. As a yoga teacher I understand that talking allows (not only a mental+emotional release that has a physical and physiological counterpart) but there’s an equally amazing energetic release, as well. You may know it as.. .. that sweet, sweeeeet feeling of a weight being lifted. 🏋️♂️🙌🏻🌟 {This post is not intended to downplay anyone’s suffering or reduce mental illness to mere frustrations. It’s simply a reminder I got out of a small moment this morning} Talking is powerful and effective - regardless of the magnitude of the situation. Release the crap that’s weighing you down, by talking. Let it out. Take Care of yourself ❤️ (no one else can do it for you). #BreakTheSilence #BreakTheShameOfMentalIllness #BellLetsTalk
There was a significant period of time in my life when I felt completely dispassionate. About everything. No real interest, curiosity or genuine happiness. Every day was a facade. Going through the motions of life and what people expect of you, just to hopefully... maybe... give off the impression that you're normal and functional. It's fucked up. On the outside I appeared my normal happy ashley self, but on the inside was just a big empty void. I feel comfortable sharing this now because I personally was moved and helped a lot by other people who had the courage to share their stories (without knowing if they were helping anyone at all). These people lifted me up. A little bit at a time, I slowly started to feel less alone. Stronger. I've met so many people along the way who felt exactly what I had. And I met people who have been a place much much worse. A personal prison, so to speak. I only wish I knew sooner, the people you meet and talk to is one of the most important parts of emotional and mental repair. Talking about the trauma, the abuse, the horrible feelings or the lack of any feeling at all, is the first step to re-building. You're not alone. You can get back up. It won't be like this forever. Talking is the best thing I ever did. Come back❤️
Lol. Little dude wouldn't leave me alone today 🖤
Fuck you. Love wins.
Nobody wants to be the person
that goes through
something traumatic
at a young age.
Everyone,
at some point.
Learns pain.
Gets to know suffering.
But at a young age..
you’re not ready for it.
Not prepared,
in any way.
And people
get sick of you.
Of your grief.
Sadness.
It’s boring to them.
So what’s left to do.
But keep
on
living.
Breathing.
Hoping
you’ll feel alive
again.
And the thing
that will really
Help.
To live again..
is,
not giving a
goddamn fuck
what anyone thinks.
fuck you.
fuck them.
Love lives.
Love wins
in death or breath.
It’s still love that always lives.
Every now and then, it's important to remind yourself not to take life so seriously. None of us make it outta here alive, anyway .. Let's not let people pull us into their storm. Lets pull them into our peace. #peaceofmind ✌🏼️✨ (at The Bodymind Centre)
