Imagine: Realizing You’re Their Mate…
Characters: Felix, Demetri, Jane, Alec
Felix
At first, Felix is completely oblivious to these weird and confusing thoughts that he’s been having about you. He knows he wants to spend more time with you, that he feels protective of you and responsible for your safety; he knows that the warmth you make him feel is like nothing he’s ever experienced before. But what the heck does it all mean? Eventually, Demetri is forced to step in and explain the painfully obvious to Felix. Afterwards, Felix is glued to you even more so than before, like your second shadow.
The urgency in Felix’s march quickened as he spied you approaching from down the hallway; god, he couldn’t even describe the way he had longed for you in his week-long absence. It was as if the lack of you had plagued his waking nightmares. Felix stepped forward and wrapped his large arm around your smaller frame, pulling you tightly against him so as to feel your soft warmth, to feel the beat of your heart against his still chest. At the first chance he had, he would beseech Aro to never force you to leave his side again; so long as you were next to him and he could be assured of your safety, he would be satisfied. He pressed his face into your neck. “I’m home. I won’t leave you again.”
Demetri
Oh, he’s ecstatic. While Demetri is flirty and provocative by nature, he's been waiting centuries for the one special person that will settle alongside him. A part of him always craved the comfort and stability of having a mate, having someone to confide in and be vulnerable with. If vampires do in fact have souls, then to Demetri you are and always will be the other half of his.
He whisked you into his arms, not even the slightest dash of attention to give to the other banquet attendees twirling around the two of you. They were nothing compared to the light of your beauty glimmering in the ballroom. With one arm around your waist to press you tightly against him and the other to hold your hand within his, Demetri spun the two of you in circle after circle, delighting in the way your laugh lit up your face. He leaned down without the slightest hiccup in step and pressed his cheek against yours, his lips to your ear as he inhaled your sweet scent. So, so sweet. “My light,” he cooed softly. “I so look forward to sweeping you off your feet both tonight and every eternal night hereafter…”
Jane
Denial. It will take time and patience, and a lot of it, before Jane comes to terms with these newfound feelings. In the beginning, expect some snide comments meant to deter you or coldness that she hopes pushes you away. When that doesn’t work, she’ll attempt to flee from her feelings. Anytime you walk into the room, she’s already halfway out the door. Eventually, she begrudgingly relents against these attempts at forced repression; the pull she feels towards you is just too strong to run from forever.
The moment her keen eyes narrowed in on you coming in her direction from the opposite end of the long hallway, Jane was swiveling on her heel and heading right back the other way. It didn’t matter if you called out to her or rushed faster towards her; she was gone in a matter of seconds. She tried to ignore the churn of her gut and the way her feet chastised her back in your direction. Hell, the kings themselves might not have even been able to turn her back your way. Jane was like a magnet completely repelled against your pole of force. The closer you got, the farther she pushed herself away… But that didn’t stop the pang of regret that stung her as her feet carried her farther and farther away from you.
Alec
Alec takes a cautiously curious approach to these emerging feelings. He isn’t quick to name it, though he doesn’t deny to himself that he’s grown a special interest in you. It’ll start by him asking you small questions about yourself or finding excuses to share space in your presence. He isn’t one to cling, but he’s found that his thoughts are always on you when you’re not around. It drives him a bit mad and also excites him in a way. Not that he’ll show it outwardly…
Alec peaked his head through the library doors, careful to remain quieter than silent so as not to alert you to his presence. He could lie and say he was there for a book, for important matters entrusted to him by Aro, but he didn’t want that. What he wanted was to watch you. He wanted to not only see what you spent your time reading but also to observe the way you softly bit your lip when you were deep in thought, or the way you hid your mouth behind the palm of your hand when a particular passage entranced you. No, it was simply an impossibility for him to drag his prying eyes off of you for even a moment, so he hoped you would stay entranced forever…
