HELLOOO HOW ABOUT JASPER
Twilight Hockey!AU
It’s the first parts of Twilight, but with hockey 😀
Author’s note: this has potential to become a multi-part series so PLEASE let me know if you enjoy it. Also, it’s on AO3.
Bella never thought in a million years that she’d go to a “hockey school”. Arizona had no hockey team, her high school had no hockey team, and she’d never watched a game in her life. But in Forks, hockey was life.
Despite the small population, the kids were all raised with sticks in their hands and skates on their feet. And every year at least one player was signed to a D1 hockey school from Forks.
So when she was asked what her favorite hockey team was on her first day at her new school with no answer, people were shocked.
“Do you even watch hockey?” Her unofficial tour guide for her first day asked.
“Uh… no?” She answered while wringing her gloved hands, desperately trying to soothe her electric nerves.
He huffed, “You’re gonna have to fix that if you plan on making it to graduation next year.”
Eric Yorkie had to have been right because every conversation she had with a peer started with a polite introduction followed by “What’s your favorite team?”.
By the time she got to lunch she was less anxious about meeting new people and more exhausted by all the hockey talk. It seemed that all her peers wanted to do was parrot each other about last night’s games.
“Did you see that goal?”
“Bro that windmill though.”
“His new celly is tough, right?”
“Might have to practice that slap-shot for Friday’s game.”
“No but like, he looked -so- good in that interview.”
Angela Webber, a nice girl from her english class, eventually pulled her aside to have a more calm conversation with her friend Jessica Stanley. She explained the rivalries between local high schools, and who the star players were at Forks. Alice, Rosalie, and Lauren for the girls. Mike, Emmett, Jasper, and Edward for the boys. Jessica pointed out the students throughout the cafeteria as Angela explained but when Edward caught her eye, Jessica mentioned his closed off nature and apparent avoidance of romance.
Despite the fact that Bella never had a real crush, let alone a boyfriend, there was something about the copper-haired boy that drew her in.
She spent the rest of lunch and her walk to class after wondering about the alluring hockey star. When she arrived to her next class and found that none of her friends sat nearby she thanked the universe that she would be done with hockey talk and plopped down in the only open seat, sighing happily as she did.
She glanced over at the boy next to her who was none other than Edward!
Then she noticed that he was glaring at her like she smacked him across the face.
She flushed and glanced away in a blink, spiraling over what she could have done to offend him in the few seconds he’d known of her existence. She rationalized that she couldn’t have done anything after only knowing about someone for twenty minutes and risked another glance at him. He was now staring blankly at the whiteboard and leaning away from her.
After a tense biology class, she reunited with one of the other guys Angela had mentioned at lunch, Mike Newton. He greeted her with a kind smile and offered to walk her to the school gym, since he had the same P.E. class as her.
She asked him about Edward’s odd behavior in biology as they walked, since he sat two seats behind her in that class.
“Yeah, he’s never acted like that before.” He answered, which only made Bella more confused and anxious.
She finished off her first day with the most embarrassing performance in a gym she’d ever had during floor hockey. Thankfully Mike had her back and got both teams to avoid her during the game.
One very exhausting, clumsy, sweaty class later, she was back in her regular clothes and heading for her truck. With a heavy exhale, she started the engine and made her way home for a couple hours of peace before her dad came home.
She mulled over her day on the drive home and while she did homework. She decided that she’d introduce herself to Edward the next day and try to dispel any awkwardness or distaste.
When Charlie came home later that evening he went to his room to change out of his uniform, made a plate of the spaghetti and garlic bread Bella had made, and plopped onto the couch to watch Toronto v. Montreal.
Bella decided to join him as a chance to bond and learn more about the sport that consumed the town. While she didn’t exactly -want- to learn about hockey, she felt it was necessary in order to become closer with her new friends.
Luckily for her, hockey was the one thing other than fishing that Charlie could talk about forever. He gave her the run down on rules, team rivalries, recent cup winners, and a general overview of his team’s (the Toronto Maple Leafs) season so far.
By the end of the first intermission, she was fully versed in the intricacies of hockey.
That night, after a fitful time falling asleep with loud rain pelting the metal roof of her new home, she dreamt of Edward.
He was standing a few feet in front of her on a frozen lake in the middle of the woods. The perpetual overcast of Forks broke away in her dream and a golden beam of light poured over Edward. His face glimmered like a diamond and his eyes burned red. He lunged towards her and she awoke with a yelp.
a great addition/change to twilight vampire lore would be if it was fully canon that they matched closer the kind of blood they drink, due to that fresh blood pumping through their veins (so they drink to hold their form, not just because of hunger) . Ideally human blood would make them look more human, let humans feel more at ease around them, though might could account for more of an "aged" sense in the older vampires ? Edward mostly likes mountain lions and if I remember correctly so does rosalie so they have a lither movement, more predatory, sharper teeth, (more hair?) etc. Emmet mostly eat bears which accounts for his immense strength etc. Idk like I feel it already fits the laid down lore, so why not make it canon ?
i just realized twilight vampires are just super powered poorly written cat people 💀 This train of thought started with me pondering their eye color, as I remembered some people debating the meaning of ochre/butterscotch and I was reading twilight and it clicked into place like OH like a lion's eye. (Because technically lions and other big cats generally speaking have an eye color that ranges around ochre/butterscotch/honey). And then I continued thinking and I was like oh... super hearing, super sight , super fast, super strong (in terms of relative body size etc) these are just big cats in a human body. Add to that the urge for violence (big cats in captivity are known to suddenly lunge at/try to capture humans who turn their back or move too fast) sensitivity to touch and standoffishness?? And they can canonically purr/roar/rumble? And add to ALL OF THAT, the strange combination of allure and sense of being their predator, which is extremely close to how we feel looking at big cats? They're just kitties 🥺

The fact that the Twilight vampires have sex all night makes a lot of sense when you consider that the Twilight vampires are supposed to be Mormons that went to Heaven/got resurrected. In Mormon theology, every Mormon man becomes a god of his own universe and has his wife with him for eternity. And him and his wife procreate to create all the souls of that universe (this is how Mormons believe God creates everyone). So yeah, with that context, the Twilight vampires having sex all night makes a lot of sense beyond simple wish fulfillment fantasy.
When Carlisle first drinks blood of animal, he becomes half-vampire. What happens next?
For the sake of the funny I shall interpret your ask in a way you certainly did not intend: every time Carlisle drinks blood of an animal, he becomes half of the vampire that he was, that is to say, his size is 50% reduced. We shall consider a new animal to be a new feeding.
As Carlisle famously lost control with a herd of deer the first time he fed on animals, he has been greatly diminished in size already, assuming the herd consisted of 3 or more deer his size of originall 188 cm has been diminished by 50% three times - he stood 94 cm tall after the first deer, then 47 cm, then 23 cm (or, 9 inches). It is reasonable he stops at this point, as the size of his prey so greatly outpaces his own and he has no more room to drink further.
Being now 9 inches tall, Carlisle has an unforeseen problem as he stands there in the English woods. We may assume he continues shrinking, devouring ever smaller animals) until he has to feed on (what would be to him) giant mosquitoes.
Assuming these mosquitoes have drunk human blood and human blood can mitigate the shrinking issue, he may experience either becoming a full vampire again, instantly soaring to 188 cm tall (in which case the merry dance starts over) from a single mosquito's blood, or he shall have a 50% size increase each time he eats a mosquito.
His life becomes one of carefully balancing his animal blood-to-mosquito ratio so as to be able to live a somewhat normal life.
Upon learning of the incredible shrinking vampire, Aro wonders if this is simply a hitherto undiscovered anomaly to vampire biology and whether it's worth making his guard drink animal blood to turn into teeny tiny spies (decides against it because it's too demeaning), while Carlisle discovers on turning Edward that anon's ask was phrased as Carlisle, specificlaly, having this issue and no one else shrinks.
