Rin didnāt know what else to say to him other than a, āSure.ā She practically jumped into her room and searched quickly for her backpack and filled it with necessary items for Migi: pain relief pills, bandages, antiseptic wipes, alcohol, sutures, bottled water, and some snacks. The star waved the Gengar goodbye and sprinted out the door. Whistling for Arrow, the large dino flew down to meet her and she swiftly climbed onto his neck.
In the matter of minutes, Rin reached the spot Migi mentioned and scanned the area for him, narrowing her eyes. āYo! Whereās your dumbass at?ā She slipped off Arrow casually and kicked the ground with the tip of her shoe, impatiently.
The first person to greet Rin was not Migi himself, but rather, a weeping shiny litwick child; his 3 year-old daughter, Sophie. Ā āAuntcle Riiiin,ā she hiccuped, standing on her toes to grab the starfishās shirt, balling it into her tiny fists and burying her face in it against Rinās legs. āPapa! Heās hurt!ā Though sheād certainly sounded more hysterical earlier over the phone, it almost seemed as though she were āall cried outā, with very little energy left to even remain awake. āPlease save my papaā¦ā she pulled away from Rinās legs and pointed over at where Migi sat. Though he was looking in their direction, he didnāt seem to notice that Rin had arrivedā most likely on account of the fact that heād been covering his eyes with his bloodied hands. āSoph?ā Migi called out, āGo play with Arrow, baby. Heās a nice dragon, remember?ā Anything to get the child distracted so he could show Rin his wounds without frightening her any further. And so Sophie skittered off, doing a little hop over the body of the āsleepingā Chimecho man in the distance as she went. āOi, Rin!ā Migi did a little wave, in the entirely wrong direction of his friend. Heād never been so grateful to see someone in his life, even though technically⦠āThank you, a thousand times thank you,ā he whispered. As the starfish grew closer, the ghost began to gather his courage to show her the wounds heād been hiding. It wasnāt that he was afraid of scaring her. Rin was strong, resilient. He was afraid that if he elicited any kind of reaction out of his usually cool and collected friend, it would in turn terrify himā or worse, Sophie. But the lightheaded feeling that nagged at his consciousness reminded him that time was of the essence, and he immediately reached for her with a bloodied hand and swept the longer side of his hair out of his face. The wounds slicing vertically down his face were remarkably clean and symmetricalā almost as if theyād been done with a surgeonās scalpel instead of a madmanās bladeā but the damage done was grievous, nonetheless. Even one who knew nothing of ophthalmology could take a short glance at Migiās eyes and wonder if heād ever see again, let alone if his eyes could be saved. Not to mention the perpetual bleeding⦠The remainder of his face was covered in various cuts, newly forming bruises, scrapes, and whatnot. The only thing that seemed untouched, sitting atop Migiās forehead just beneath his trembling hand, was that third eye of his. Not much use in terms of regular visionā more so for seeing auras and other extrasensory sightsā but perhaps enough to keep him going for now, without the use of his other eyes. In that moment, he squeezed it shut. Rinās aura usually read so strong and nonchalant. He didnāt want to know if that had changed.
Auntcle? She had to ask Mr. Migi about that. Wonder what else he told this kid about her. Anyway, Rin quickly walked over to him and swatted his hand away from her. āHey, doofus. Donāt need to make us both red, right?ā She joked as she inspected his face closely as she held his chin firmly. āJesus, did you go through a lawnmower or somethinā?ā It was grotesque, but nothing she hasnāt seen (or been through) before. Blood and wounds were nothing to her. Guess Tala did really dodge a bullet there.
āDid you get mauled by a bear too?ā Noticing the bruises and cuts as well. After her little inspection she dropped her backpack, taking out what she needed to clean him. āHere, take some pills first before you talk. Probably not strong enough but itās better then nothinā.ā She paused and helped him take the pain relievers. Rin suddenly splashed his face with water and wiped it with the antiseptic quickly, not caring to be gentle right now. If she wasnāt the calm one, who would be? āStay still for a few, please. Or youāll get stitches in places you wouldnāt like.ā She would make a great surgeon, no? After cleaning off the blood and cuts, she grabbed the small suture kit and readied the needle. āThankfully, you wonāt need much.ā
In minutes, that felt like hours, Rin finished up her stitch job without any complications. āThere⦠I unno bout your eyes though. I could try my recover on it? Not sure if itād do anythinā.ā She shrugged and cleaned off her hands with the alcohol. I
In that moment, Migi was glad he had chosen to call Rin, of all people. Nothing seemed to faze her-- and of course, she was still speaking to him, which was a plus. Still, he himself seemed somewhat emotionally scarred by whatever had just taken place, staring off into the pitch darkness of what was actually just an average evening with the mauled remains of his eyes. " 'member how I mentioned killing someone?" Migi's third eye flicked open, darting over to where he could see that the presence of an evil aura had been-- the body of the Chimecho man, as Rin would see it. Lying face down on the ground, there were streaks of blood dried into the dirt around him-- as if they'd sprayed out in spurts-- and what appeared to be tiny, unimaginably sharp finger knives scattered nearby. However, the wound that had actually killed the man-- a precise Night Slash to the jugular-- wasn't actually visible from the way he was positioned. In fact, for someone that had presumably been locked in a battle to the death with someone as tough as Migi-- especially given that the Chimecho man himself was substantially diminutive in stature and type disadvantage-- he hardly looked injured at all. "His knives are sharp," Migi seemed to cringe at the mere recollection, gritting his teeth as the antiseptic left his usually-numb flesh with a slight burning sensation. "and his healing skills are better than anyone's I've ever known." In the usual Migi way, he forced an awkward chuckle to try to lighten the mood. "I-I mean. Just when you think he's down and out, he pulls some shit like 'Healing Wish', or 'Heal Bell', or 'Heal Pulse', I pretty much lost count. It's like he was invincible." He tried to imagine Rin's handiwork in sewing him up, but it was difficult when he couldn't actually see the extent of is own wounds. Better than nothing, he supposed with a shrug. "But... I'll get into that more later. Right now we need to get me patched up, I guess. There's so much I could tell you about, so much I learned about my little 'Sophie'..." his voice trailed off, as he seemed to have difficulty even saying her name for some reason. "...even if you totally don't care, I gotta tell somebody about this stuff, man, or it's gonna eat me alive... err-- dead," Migi shook his head, as if he were disappointed in himself for even catching that pun at such a time. Over at the Aerodactyl, thankfully for Migi and Rin, 'Sophie' (was that her name? Migi made it seem questionable for some reason) was fast asleep, splayed out facedown atop his saddle with her arms and legs dangling over each side-- and although she had a bit of her papa's blood on her, she seemed entirely unharmed.
