people foolishly dismiss desserts and treats as having no nutritional value when they actually are necessary for refilling your sanity stat. to prove my point please observe the emotional stability of the next person you meet who doesnt let themselves ever eat any form of dessert
both of them are me
Sucks when you send a text and they answer with a voice message. Bitch if I wanted to hear your voice I would have called you

I have a question for the artists out there. I need help. I need opinions.
So my mom is dead. Great start I know. Anyways she was a sculptor and an abstract artist and we’re going through her surviving artwork and pictures of her artwork.
My dad wants to make a gallery show of her artwork but a lot of it has missing parts or has broken over the years.
Since she was an abstract artist that made a lot of stuff that wasn’t like technically complex and was more about the idea of the piece and we have pictures of her sculptures and patterns for her fiber art, my dad and I collectively have the technical know how to recreate or replace a lot of broken or missing parts of her artwork.
She left no notes or anything in her will or elsewhere about what she wants done with this stuff.
Here’s my question for the artists and art historians among you. In your opinions as artists and art scholars is it ethical to recreate these pieces of artwork or repair them to the best of our ability and put them in a gallery for public viewing? Or is it best to just let them be lost?
For example, there was a series of bead tapestries of human hearts that she made. The original ones that she directly made have been lost or broken. However, we have the patterns she made for them and her notes about size and color. I am not a visual artist but I have the technical know how to follow someone else’s patterns and recreate the bead tapestries.
Is it ethical for me to recreate those bead tapestries using her patterns and notes and put that in a gallery as her artwork?
Hi, sweetheart, art restorator here. First of all, sorry for your loss, glad to hear it's becoming easier to bear for your family.
Now, on her art. This is not really a matter of ethics, but rather, a matter of something we call 'the Discourse'. She was your mom, you're not trying to erase her in your own favor, and don't plan on exploiting her artwork, so ethically you are in the clear.
Now, the Discourse is a separate matter. The Discourse is what differentiates random squiggles from Art with a capital A.
The Discourse has three parts: a)What the artwork is, in purely technical matters, b)What the artwork is representing, as intented by the artist, and c)How the artwork fits within the wider culture, as determined by the historical moment the artist was experiencing, their personal beliefs, and the combination of both, since art is always a reaction to life.
Under these parameters, point B would be entirely unaffected. However, by changing point A and introducing yourself to the technical aspect, you would also be affecting point C, turning the work of a single woman expressing herself into a colaborative effort continued years after her death as a labor of love.
Ultimately, if she didn't leave instructions, it is up to you. Maybe you'd rather leave her art as is as a shrine to a creative life cut short, or complete it as a bonding experience with another artistic mind that should have been in your life. Change is inevitable, we only get to choose the shape it takes.
A Starry Place by Sam Perin
Scientist on the ship: listen you laugh at the regulations but one time a woman DID try to tale a penguin home with her. I swear. She got it on the ship and was keeping it in her bathroom.
Me: that's WILD. These bathrooms aren't up to spec for penguins even overnight
Scientist: ...how would you know that
Me, realizing I'm about to get to tell my story about managing a hotel when there was an emergency stopover for penguin transport and we were the only place in the area with bathrooms that would work for the night:
My spouse and I just had one of those “wait your brain works HOW?” exchanges, and now I am BURNING TO KNOW HOW IT WORKS FOR OTHER PEOPLE:
Fellow speakers of this feral bastard language (English), rb and tell me in the tags: what is the delineation for you, if any, between evening and night?
Listen, evening is when you still have shit to do, night is when you're done for today.
"Good evening!"= Its dark and I just got here. Let's go!
"Good night!" = It's dark and I'm going to bed, bye-bye!
