I find the discourse over Frieren and what the demons represent so funny and yet fascinating. Comparing them to Demons in Demon Slayer isn’t really fair if anything demon slayer demons seem more in line with Yokai as they can be good or bad.

Frieren is much accurate (tho not completely) to demon beliefs in not just Christianity but most Abrahamic beliefs. They are not human never were and lack the ability to be human because they simply aren’t. Idk where or how some people found that as a parallel to be racist and prompt racist ideology.

Seeing people latch onto it to show off racist ideology is just incredibly disheartening and honestly? It’s a complete nothing an empty argument, as in the Frieren universe they are a species. A monster evolved to mimic humans not be human.

I want to expand on this more and make an essay but for now I’ll ramble on here, we see humans, elves, drwaves, all co exist in peace, by definition Frieren and Himmel are interracial couple.

Even in the manga with Macht the closest we come to demons feeling empathy Frieren herself states it come with the caveat at likely being at the cost of far too many lives.

Just like with Biblical demons being described as beautiful, you can understand that humans are uncomfortable with the thought of killing their own, hurting children, or having more empathy towards beautiful people, however they can’t feel it. If the demons can’t make you uncomfortable can’t shake your moral compass or make you question getting rid of them, you get rid of them. They are supposed to make you uncomfortable it’s almost too an extent like the “uncanny valley” the more human they appear the better they can hide, when you see something that looks human go through pain it creates that feeling in you.

This whole idea is simply skewed because at no point are demons considered a race, they are entities, creatures of their own, fallen angels. They aren’t human.

Demons in Frieren ARE SUPPOSED to make you uncomfortable because that is how they survive, there’s no hand to feed you when you beat them all off.

This might be a rant I never put out but I’m incredibly tired of people equating the freedom Christians in the West has to others, suffering isn’t some Olympics persecution against any group that doesn’t harm people should disgust you as it goes directly against our gift of free will. Almost everyone past and present will face persecution, if you hate someone so much killing them, torturing them, is a even a thought you have I don’t doubt you can find anything to validate to justify that belief.

I was trying to think of any women in the series who are in a happy secure relationship and aren't super old (Mrs. Authen) or a bitch (Camilla). That seems to leave Mrs. Blackbell. It would be so cute if she and Yor hung out while Becky and Anya played, and they got to talking about their husbands. Yor would feel nervous at first, afraid she's not acting like a normal wife as usual, until Mrs. Blackbell's friendly manner puts her at ease and she begins to open up about her feelings for Loid.

Yor would be heartened to hear about how Byron is such a doting father and husband, very much in love with his wife after many years together plus his busy career as CEO of Blackbell Industries.
