hunk and pidge both mature slower than the rest of the gang when it comes to the idea of dating and romantic relationships, which is why they don't really start anything until they're much much older and the war's long ended. they're jus not ready until then. but they're still Crazy Teenagers and go through cycles of on-off crushes, usually on each other but NEVER at the same time

matt keeps trying to build complex algorithms trying to track when Phases begin and end and he's always wrong. hunk and lance refer to Pidge Phases as "seasonal allergies" like it's his damn period. pidge gets FURIOUSLY jealous of hunk's other three-day crushes and then forgets about it in three days anyway when the Hunk Phase passes. everyone knows about hunk and pidge except hunk and pidge, but they also know better than to meddle and make them uncomfortable, so the cat-and-mouse game continues to increasingly absurd and hilarious heights

a Pidge Phase ended within two days of a Hunk Phase beginning and the results were catastrophic

ok so I introduced 4 friends into Voltron (one isn’t as into it because she’s quite busy and hasn’t actually finished it but it’s all good-) and most of them (one isn’t keen on shipping in general) ship Hidge. this fact had nothing to do with me, who only writes Hidge. like, i don’t know what happened but somehow... all of them like it. (one absolutely adores it and i’m like- wow)
