DETAILS TBA BUT FYI- I write Klaus as having been much more present in Hope’s life. I think the whole idea that of having parenthood be that integral to a character arc and then denying like... any actual parenting to be done is ridiculous. He was not a great father, he was kinda shitty but damn it if he did not do his level best by her and grow as a person because of her.
I actually take into account the fact that the Mikaelsons are vikings. While sadly I can’t just omit their connection to Mystic Falls ( and before someone says it—yes, there is evidence of norse explorers from around this time in north america. it’s just not this far down. ) I DO aim to make actual use of their origins and you know, make the vibes work.
Going with this— Niklaus’s birth name is NÆSKUNUNGR MíMISSON which he later changed to NIKLAUS MIKAELSON to take into account the changes in naming conventions so as to blend in better. This likely happened around the late middle ages or renaissance era. For reference the other family members names have been changed to Finnbjorn (Finn) ; Eylaugr (Elijah) ; Ragrifridr (Rebekah) ; Mímir ( Mikael ); Eistla (Esther). Kol’s the fucking same bc he somehow got the only usable name. I still use the canon TVDU names for everyone save Esther this is just for their birth names.
They mention in S2 that Klaus has an unknown but seemingly at least 1 coven sized group of witches who work for him and only him thanks to generations of kidnapping and gaslighting. This ofc never gets seen or heard or mentioned again after S2. I KEEP THIS IN MY CANON AND AIM TO USE IT.
THERE ARE MORE HYBRIDS OUT THERE. THEY’RE NOT ALL DEAD. The shows seems to forget both how much time he spent turning hybrids and how many hybrids he ended up making. his first attempt had a pack of easily 20-30 people and when we see him again after his actually successful hunts he’s managed to work from Kansas to Portland. So. Yeah. Not decided on how many there still are but, they’re not all gone. Tyler only canonically unsired 12 other hybrids. How many others have sussed that trick out is up for debate. (this whole section is just an opening for hybrid ocs for me to bully so. chop chop.)
