there is a lot of praise that can and should be given to Witch Hat Atelier's artwork, but something that should not go underappreciated is how FUCKING good Shimahama is at physical gesture. look how well they READ!!!! look how much you understand the scene just from POSE and POSTURE!!!!!!!

if you call a meme fascist people will defend it by saying we can't culturally defeat fascism by letting them have everything they claim for themselves and the meme in question is "reject modernity embrace tradition"

you know I don't think they are claiming this one for themselves I think they'd actually prefer if people from across the political spectrum used this phrase that's just a very straightforward description of political regressivism to express ideas that they sincerely believe. I don't think you're "defeating them" by contributing to the normalization of their ideology actually

how this week has felt

watched that movie Normal last night and I'm baffled by how townsfolks are killed off in it

like the premise is that this is a small town that's been asked to watch over Yakuza money for a cut of it. most of the residents were coerced into doing so by the mayor with the ones against the idea killed to keep the secret

so it makes sense that the police in the town would act on and face consequences for that choice but the way other citizens are killed crosses the line into cruel and unusual

like i wanted to see an action movie in small town Minnesota because that's where I'm from and instead it just became a massacre with occasional jokes about being polite...
