She can’t stop looking at her. Almost as though there’s some sort of pheromone in the air; though her gaze may stray now and then it’s drawn back like a moth to a flame, those brilliantly orange locks close enough. She’s certainly cute, but there’s something more there -- but whether it would be useful to Makino’s interests, that’s yet to be seen. There has to be some reason she keeps staring at her...regardless, it’s simultaneously frustrating and intriguing. An endless cycle of curiosity, a craving for knowledge, and the frustration that comes when that knowledge is unknown...it must be discovered, and thus begins anew. And one way or another, she is going to find out why this girl interests her so. She’s never failed a mission yet.

In times like this it’s best to frame the interest as coming from the target, to not give herself away. A friendly smile is given; a slight tilt of the head follows. “You’ve been looking this way for a while now, haven’t you? Is something the matter?”

“Is there a reason you’ve been following me?”

She’s felt the eyes on her back since stepping into the apartment building, a piercing gaze that would have easily intimidated a normal person. But Makino Yagami is not normal by any means, and she simply continues on to the apartment number she had been given upon arrival, testing to waters to see if her pursuer would follow. She knew right away that she wasn’t in any actual danger; she’s been in too many close calls and knows when looks can kill. This was a look that could kill, yes, but it wasn’t going to -- this was the curiosity that had killed the cat, and she, of course, certainly wasn’t one. This is why she turns around once she reaches the door, calmly addressing the girl who had been following her in a flat, almost emotionless voice. 

“You don’t seem the type to give yourself away so easily. Did you want me to notice you?”

“I thought you would be covered up for a reason. Heavy clothes aren’t suitable for this environment, and such large gloves would surely be a hindrance.”

Makino speaks matter-of-factly, despite the distress twisting the other’s face. It’s strange to her that she would be so scared -- no, ashamed? perhaps both -- of this condition; really, to her it’s fascinating. She’s never seen anything like this before, and as such, she simply cannot miss out on this opportunity. After all, while the ability to burn someone just through mere touch could be quite useful in espionage, the bulky clothes required to prevent any unintentional injuries would do more harm than help. What a shame...but that doesn’t mean that she’s just going to let this go; field research is much more useful than just sitting down in front of a computer screen -- and both the laptop in her new home and her smartphone lack internet access. What a shame. 

“May I touch you? Just for a moment.” The girl’s concern causes her to shake her head, her hand held up with a single finger raised, as if to insist. “I’ve suffered worse in my line of work. A small burn means nothing to me.”
