I know we love to imagine Ryland Grace slowly deteriorating and starving in space but please also consider this bit from the Eridian lore document:

even if the artificial earth gravity on the Mary was sufficient for normal eating on the journey to Erid (and/or assuming that they weren’t nervous messing with the centrifuge settings again to try to replicate Erid’s gravity every few days for four years), the Blip-A was dead in space for at least 6 weeks! And yes there was definitely backup power for life support systems but there’s no way my guy was wasting any of it on making himself comfortable. When Grace went back for him he was covered in blood and Taumoeba goop and Rocky was still like “I’m fine don’t worry about it” so I’m willing to bet he’d be ignoring the poor healing around his oozing open wound ventral crack until it became an undeniable problem or Grace noticed.
