This is another Philippine Biography back post from 2011. I also have a feature on Marikina's 2nd District Rep. Miro Quimbo, but I decided to skip on that one since everybody knows what's in and what's out in the shoe capital of the Philippines. If you are interested in Miro Quimbo (thanks to the Corona Impeachment Trial exposure), then you have to tune in to GNN for his hour-long episode! Haha.
Moving on, welcome to the 4th district of Laguna! I googled the process of how to make the Barong Tagalog and, surprisingly, there isn't enough material on the web. So here goes.
STEP 1. Pick the kind of cloth for your barong. Husi, silk and piña are just some of the varieties to choose from.
STEP 2. The cloth is embellished with patterns, either machine-stitched or hand-stitched.
STEP 3: The embroidered cloth is stretched on a wooden / bamboo frame, scrubbed to stretch the fibers and dried under the sun.
STEP 4: The barong is cut into the desired measurements and sewn into a shirt, polo, gown or dress.
STEP 5: Additional designs may be added via hand painting and/or pin painting. Steps 4 and 5 may be interchanged.

Since I'm about to celebrate my first anniversary as the host of GNN's Philippine Biography, I decided that it's about time I post extensive blogs about the places we've visited and filmed. Let me start with my very first episode on the life story of Quezon Governor David. :) I'm excited about this mini project of mine since I'll be exposing my bloops and might even post outtakes of the show. ;)

It's my first time to host and produce an episode of Philippine Biography! :) We're heading to Quezon today, and by 'we' I'm referring to me and my crew: Kuya JR (coordinator), Kuya Nono and Kuya Francis (cameramen).
For Quezon's tourist spots, we head out to its shores that are often ignored by many --- many who are clearly missing out on its beauty.
Borawan Island's crystal clear waters and white sand beach
Clearly, Borawan's white sand isn't as fine as Boracay's but what I love about it is the strategically placed boulders that guests my climb to enjoy a better view.
The dare-devil photo is just a camera trick! Hihi. This is how high I had to climb and the leaves on the previous photo that looked like a palm tree is actually just a plant. Haha. I know I fooled a lot of people with that! Gotcha! :))
But I really did have to climb several boulders to get some shots. So give my 'guts' some credit pa din! Hahaha. (rolls eyes)
After Borawan Island, we sail towards Kwebang Lampas. It's an island that has a cave during low tide but disappears during the high tide. It's quite complicated to explain so I'll just show pictures.
I forgot the name of the third beach that completes our Quezon island hopping tour. It's also unfortunate that we can't go to Balesin island at that time since construction is on going there. FYI, Balesin is being groomed to be the next Boracay or El Nido.
Anyhoo, I hope I gave you an idea of how heavenly the Quezon beaches are. Next time you want a swimming trip, do consider Quezon province since it's a lot closer to the metro that Bora or Palawan. That means the trip is going to cause you less too! :)

Hahahaha. There's only an 8-month difference between the two pictures but wth was I thinking back then? Never even bothered to put enough make up? Waaa. :))

Valentine's dinner @ Sumo Sam, Shangrila. So disappointed with the taste, serving size and plating as well. Probably won't eat there ever again. :/ Thanks for the free cupcake though.
