Scooped this molecule of a snake off of the bike path
this has to be fake...
Not fake! This is a newborn dekays brown snake and they are SO so so little. Unbelievably little. Full grown ones aren't even that much bigger, really!
Here's an image of one at least close to full grown from the very unfortunately named Psychotic Nature
They are so little that they give live birth! Here's a mama with her little freshly cooked noodles from the Virginia Herpetological Society!
And a very cute infographic I was unfortunately not able to source
They unfortunately do not do well in captivity if anyone was thinking about that. Theyre very real and they are in fact, molecules of snakes. Youll usually find them in your potted plants or near lots of dark damp ground cover, where worms, slugs, and snails are likely to be found. Theyre native to the eastern half of north America, spanning all the way from southern Ontario and Quebec, to as far as El Salvador! Gotta be one of my favourite little guys in existence.
Thank you! *blushes*
