Mortgage solicitors misbehave?
Recently I heard similar testimony from a few different people buying a house and sorting out mortgage.
You have to go through a solicitor to close your purchase and everyone is prepared for the legal fees involved.
Your solicitor will essentially deal for you with whoever you are buying the house or apartment from. This also means that the entire mortgage money from the bank will go through your solicitor’s account.
Now, to the very testimony I heard - it often takes the solicitor more than a month to sort those ‘legal matters’ and my interlocutors simply suspect that for the entire month the bank loan is sitting on solicitor’s high interest (if nowadays we can call 1% a high interest) bank account to add extra few grand to already paid legal fees. This is cheeky if true.
A little unethical? For you to judge and certainly to keep an eye on if you are about to buy a house.
Intro
So here we are. Welcome everyone. I will be writing about Ireland, things that annoy me here mostly (those you may find mutual to the place you live in), but also things that I love about the country. Don’t be surprised to see the reference to some other places.
What you won’t see here is offensive stuff or unnecessary jokes.
I just want to point your attention at things that are worth it (as noticing them will most likely will improve your overall existence), draw conclusions and take some action. Ta-da!
