These are issues of equality. Paying women less, for instance, is neither normatively nor legally supported in most industrialized countries, and therefore not oppression. Many women around the world are actually oppressed, and referring to all things that negatively and disparately impact women as “oppression” trivializes true oppression. Many feminists advocate against oppression, but that is not the only goal and in the cases of many feminists it is not even the primary goal since issues of equality or inclusiveness more directly impact them. And as someone who had studied cognitive neuroscience, women’s brains do sometimes function differently than men’s and women do respond differently than men to many stimuli. Whether that is the result of socialized gender differences or biological differences, we don’t know. The differences are minute, imo, but they do exist, though they do not impact things like intelligence. Women, physically, psychologically, and biologically, are different from men (we have uteruses, vaginas, respond differently to certain stimuli, have different hormones and DNA) but can do 100% of the things that men do, except things like produce sperm (even then, only in the case of biological women). workers will be exploited the same amount whether or not shoplifting takes place,,, workers will still be treated like dirt and will receive hour cuts whether or not shoplifting takes place,,,, corps do not want to pay for benefits or overtime for their employees so they will cut hours and blame it on shoplifting whether or not shoplifting took place..,, the amount lost to lifting is so small that corps do NOT need to abuse their employees for that reason but THEY DO IT ANYWAYS…. Look up any corporation’s annual net incomes and compare them to annual payroll expense AND annual theft loss of inventory / annual shrinkage. WHY are workers still being abused even with the billion dollar profits after all expenses?
