"Gazing into Outer Space My telescope sent me to another planet Since I was a child I yearned To wear the rings around Saturn My fingers burned..." - Teena Marie, "Starchild"
"You know, love doesn't mean "l never want you to change." But I don't think it means "I don't care if you change" either. So I suppose it might mean, "I believe that you'll always be the person I adore." A declaration of faith, perhaps."
– Sayaka Saeki, やがて君になる (Bloom into You), Via "freckled-lili" on Tumblr
"The way to love someone is to lightly run your finger over that person's soul until you find a crack, and then gently pour your love into that crack."
– Keith Miller
Every woman I have ever loved is still working out how to love herself. Has a closetful of ghosts and has been to a hundred funerals of the women she used to be. Wonders what wounds her mother carries that she will never know about. Hopes that the weight of the world doesn't eventually crush her, that she is strong enough to handle it all. Wishes a day will come when she can put it all down, give her aching shoulders a rest. Wants someone to truly see her and not make a feast of her kindness and dreams. Is forever hiding a secret hunger for what calls to her in the dark. Holds a universe inside her, but has been told to make herself smaller despite the paradox. Praise be that universes are not in the business of listening to anyone but themselves. Every woman I have loved has thought about it. The art of disappearing. To be here one day, and the next, like smoke, simply gone.
- Nikita Gill, Every Woman I Have Ever Loved
if you are in your late 20's or early 30's you are finally beginning to experience a true sense of separation and alienation from youth culture and to natural identify more with other adults as your peers, and that's a normal part of being an adult and moving into that stage of your life, and you MUST recognize it as such and resist the ancient Joker's Trick that is the urge to jump to the conclusion that nothing has changed about you and it is instead the children that have gotten weirder.
But what if I want to villainize the youth?!
.....nah something wrong with these kids bad 😭🥴
I love the moon so much. She has the potential to be so destructive & yet she’s just up there being calm and pretty. 🌙

The student loan debt thing got me thinking. Fuck the founding fathers of course, but "I am compelled to study war and politics so that my sons might have liberty to study philosophy and mathematics" is a great line and I think about it every time some fool starts complaining that life doesn't suck as much as it used to
"Kids today have it so easy!"
Yeah, Einstein, that's kinda the whole idea
and im pretty sure the second half of the quote is smth like "so that their sons might have liberty to study arts"
"I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain."
- John Adams
I love men who still enjoy being chivalrous. Saying “go before me” in a line, opening or closing a door, walking on the side closest to the road, pumping your gas for you, etc. Maybe it’s the southern upbringing that has me spoiled when it comes to that but I’ll forever love the softness I feel when that happens.
