top 10 albums that came out this year (for me)
honestly, I didn't get into many albums this year that were actually new. so.
tegan and sara - get along
outstanding. they are just amazing live, and I loved the whole album. (favourite tracks: call it off, relief next to me, not with you)
patrick stump - soul punk
he just amazes me with everything that he does. some songs stood out more to me, but it's a pretty solid album. (favourite tracks: the "I" in lie, run dry (x hearts x fingers), coast (it's gonna get better)
patrick stump - truant wave EP
just the same. this got me super stoked for the LP, and the songs are super catchy. (favourite tracks: big hype, as long as I know I'm getting paid)
panic! at the disco - vices & virtues
pretty much the perfect post-divorce album. I think it suits brendon and spencer and what they wanted to do perfectly. (favourite tracks: hurricane, the calendar, trade mistakes)
jon walker - home recordings
(favourite tracks: alone, growing a beard)
jon walker - new songs
I love both of jon's albums from this year. they're not brilliantly innovating or anything like that, but they don't need to be. they're perfect for what they are. (favourite tracks: side of me, illusions, waiting for a ghost)
jack's mannequin - people and things
I didn't really like this album as much as previous jack's albums, but maybe it'll grow on me. there were definitely some standout tracks, but I loved the bonus songs almost more. (favourite tracks: restless dream, casting lines)
the cab - symphony soldier
so good! so catchy! I'm really glad that the cab didn't rush to put a second album out, because I don't think it would have been so good. worth the wait, definitely. (favourite tracks: angel with a shotgun, bad, animal)
bon iver - bon iver
I like this album as a whole, mostly. I listen to a few individually, but mostly I think it works best (and brilliantly) all together. (favourite tracks: holocene, calgary)
adele - 21
solid album. I'm into a few songs more than others, but it's pretty good. you can't say adele wouldn't make the alphabet sound brilliant. (favourite tracks: set fire to the rain, someone like you)
