āIām new to Detroit so I really want to make some new friends :-)ā
I begin my journey along the unknown. Here unwarranted alley ways gather themselves in clean longitudinal rows, obedient- broken only by the horizon, a slick skyline that mends each piece of iron road together like a torch.
I heard 100 proof liquor stores can burn a city to the ground faster than the hottest street corners can.
And I heard that school is nothing but an excuse for them to say I had a chance at this,
While only ever being told I never really had a chance at this,
And I hear Inconspicuous shadow heads give no gratitude to the corpses of dead street lights, the same ones that fill the pockets of their golden pleated jackets
And I heard that sometimes ācorner of the eyeā revelations will only save you on the lucky days.
In need of battle buddies, war time heroes reminiscent soldiers of a time well fought but not well enough to have left us unbroken, looking for bodies accustomed to bombs not yet detonated, ones of sacrifice diligence and a natural distaste for intolerance.
In need of something to call my own
from a city no one ever wanted,
In a place that only knows hope.
