Finally someone willing to pay me in ducks! Here are my wares available for one duck
Purchase what you desire, young traveler

Potion (creates randomized effect)

Used armor (has a big hole in it)

Book of basic spells (unusable before level 5)

I didn't read first, but apparently OP has to give a look in the box if that wins. Make it win please. I want to see this.
No! Please don’t make me open the box of secrets, as it would surely be my ruin!
Also if this poll doesn’t get more than 100 votes the box does not get opened, so reblog for larger sample size. Trust me, if the box gets opened you shall not be disappointed.
“As you chose the box of secrets, you are allowed one look inside! Be careful with anything that emerges, and be sure not to let the wizard know I allowed you to glance in the box, I’m only doing this because I’m hard up for ducks.”
A glowing whirlwind of music notes flows out of the box as you open it. At the bottom, a tiny red imp plays a ditty on a wooden flute. The imp finishes his little song, and then, he hops on the edge of the box. He theatrically bows and greets you:
“Hello adventurer! I see someone has freed me from my prison. I am Thackeray, the dancing imp. A powerful wizard trapped me in this box, and I aim to get revenge. Can you help me?”
You agree to help him if you can.
“Thank you kind adventurer! I know not the wizard’s weakness, but I have heard a riddle that could lead you to a way to exact my revenge! Here it is:
Within me many secrets lie,
if you see me the wizard will surely die. If onto a blank slate you would write,
it may begin to share my plight.
I carry the secrets of the spry and the stories of the lame,
but am defeated by a simple flame.
I hope you can riddle it out and help defeat the evil wizard!”

Five people have solved the riddle! As such, I will post the next puzzle (under the cut for anyone who still wants to solve the riddle)
(The riddle accepts answers journal, diary, book, etc.)
“A book… of course!” the imp jumps to his feet and starts eagerly and quickly speaking: “The wizard has a journal in which he records everything about his magic and experiments. He couldn’t figure out how to trap me, and I’m sure I heard him talking about revealing his weakness to someone in exchange for the box of secrets to trap me in! You must break into his tower and find his most recent journal entry!” You sneak into the wizards tower and see in the middle of the room an ornate writing desk with a journal invitingly propped in the middle.
At this point, you hear the wizard coming into the tower. You might be able to sneak out the way you came, but you would have no way to get the most recent entry. Your only real options are to tear out the page (fast but risks detection by the wizard) or try to copy it by hand on a piece of paper you have on you (slow but decreases your chances of the wizard knowing you were in his tower). You decide to copy the page.
You manage to copy the page and escape out the window before the wizard sees you. Normally, the next steps would be easy, but no one you can find knows the arcane language that the wizard writes in. You will simply have to decode it yourself.
