(warning for loud noise in some of them)
It’s funny cause it’s true
reminder to myself about the process of drafting & revising:
first drafts are for making it exist
second drafts are for making it functional
third drafts are for making it effective
This is the most important thing I’ve learnt in writing my novel. Have fun the first time but know your first pass isn’t going to be perfect
Hey, sorry this blog is dead, truth be told I graduated last May. (I was also certain last May that coronavirus wasn’t dangerous, and boy howdy was I wrong about that). If any current student wants to take over I can make you a mod, until then this blog won’t really have anything specific to Hollins.
Wear your mask and social distance ✌️the vaccine is soon we’ll get through this
High schoolers: ugh that person is weird because they have some minor superficial differences from the rest of us what a freak
College students: I saw a dude with green hair riding a unicycle around campus I would literally kill to be that cool

So we’re going online
Guys, we’re not in danger. I want to start with that. The only people who should have any concern are those who are immunocompromised, and that’s not because they’re more likely to get it just that it could potentially cause more problems. I could start spouting information about why but I don’t want to do that with sources and, to keep it real, I started crying when I got the email. Straight up, in large part because I’m a senior so this could potentially completely screw me over.
I think what’s most frustrating - and this is the case for all the schools shutting down - is that it’s only happening because of mass hysteria. Administration knows we’re not in danger but if it’s scaring students, parents, or god forgive donors it’ll look bad. My reason to believe this is that not everyone is being made to leave. International students stay (which, by the way, is good because the alternative is to just shove them off campus and say “figure it out”) but so are students on sports teams. Because lacrosse and soccer are more concerning than the virus because it’s. Not. A. Threat.
Sorry I went off if I got something about that wrong please correct me and my inbox and dms are open to anybody who has something to say about it or just wants to talk.
In standard Hollins poor communication, they clarified on their Facebook page that the concern isn’t that someone has covid19 on campus, but that someone could bring it back with them after spring break. Which makes sense, I guess. They should've put that in the email though. The only professor before today who's said anything about preparing to go online was my history professor. So now all the professors are scrambling to organize online classes. I also wish they'd have put more info wrt housing in the email from today b/c they said we may be online for the rest of the semester...if that's the case, when will we move all the remaining things out of our dorms? They said to take as much stuff as possible home with us for break but there's no way in hell I'm gonna clear out my dorm.

In case you haven’t noticed power’s out. On the whole campus.
It’s fine. It’s not like I needed to work on finals or anything.
Apparently there’s a smell of gas in the VAC. If you’re in there or you know someone in there please get out, I’m a worrywart.
Ok so in standard Hollins poor communication they sent out an email three hours into the power outage explaining it was because of a problem off campus, and also the smell of gas was all of Hollins’ backup generators running at the same time, so everything is fine now.

I think peak Hollins culture is on reading day having a pancake study break in moody with karaoke that has the entire room singing along to ‘Be A Man’ from Mulan while people in black robes (freya) wear festive hats on top of their dark robes and hand out cookies.
Moody is closed. A fire truck is here but people are pretty sure it was just a false alarm. Building is still closed. Hollins should really send out an email.
Oop it’s open again
