things I didn’t realize abt Iron Lung until I actually watched it
Pretty much the entire movie’s runtime was in the sub. Yes, I’m aware this should’ve been obvious to me.
Also didn’t know we stayed in Simon’s pov for the entire movie. Considering how every movie I’ve seen always switches to other characters, this was a really cool creative decision!
I don’t think there was a single jumpscare in this film! There was creepiness, there was gore, there was tension, but not once did I get jumped outta my skin! Srsly, I came into this just waiting for the jumpscares, but they never came! Honestly, added to the horror!
Didn’t know Simon got to have manuals along with the map, not to mention how fed up he got having to read them!
The one scene where we actually saw Ava’s face was when Simon was already welded into the sub. For some reason, I always thought this was the scene where she’s talking to him in his prison cell and getting him to accept the deal (I have only seen visuals without dialogue attached to it before now).
The pendant being found in the sub from an Eden brother that was there previously, I kinda thought Simon just had it from the get go.
I really liked when Simon would try to tape down the camera! That was a really fun strategy for the struggles in this film!
For some reason, I thought the rubbing alcohol he drank would be in a larger bottle, and one that was labeled. Remind me how we learned that was rubbing alcohol?
We never see the people the eel is making Simon hallucinate in person. All the fanfics and fanarts I saw made me think we would see at least one person.
Also, thought we were going to see/hear way more individual people from the eel than we got.
Speaking of the eel, I don’t think it was ever called the eel even once. I knew the name Elli was made up by the fandom, but I didn’t know Simon never called it an eel.
I also thought the eel was going to be more cold, composed, calculating. Kinda was the opposite, honestly.
Didn’t know the eel kept Simon’s oxygen from running out. And for multiple DAYS! That was such a mind fuck, I loved it!
So wait, did Ava actually get eaten by the eel? It’s my first time watching, and my tv’s audio was fucked. If she did get eaten, I certainly didn’t know we never actually see it in person!
I thought Simon’s arm was going to be ripped off from trying to tug the black box from the eel, I didn’t know it was stuck to a wall!
Speaking of the black box, I legit thought it was some mysterious artifact from the blood ocean, not a piece of tech that was already part of the sub itself.
The eel mutations were only visible for a few seconds; thought it’d be seen longer, considering how much particular artists obsess over it.
Didn’t know there was a life vest, that was really funny when it was first pulled out! Also, was the life vest always intended for the black box?
