saw someone say they feel bad and awkward ‘contributing nothing’ to fandom (“no fics, no drawings, no theories, just gluttony”) and to anyone who feels inferiority about this i gotta say us creators, doing things for free, love nothing more than your unbridled spiralling greed in our notifications aka genuinely be more unapologetically gluttonous 24/7 there is nothing wrong with enjoying something insatiably because us writers and artists feel empty and despairing without a passionate audience and feral surroundings so please and thank you and we love you
yes!!!! you CAN contribute something!!!!! if you feel guilty, you can:
reblog art instead of just liking it! not only will you increase the amount of people who see it (more cool people seeing cool art!!!!) but then you can also leave some nice comments in the tags about how cool the art is!!!
no theories??? you can reblog the ones you really like, or even question the ones you don’t! fandom thrives on engagement! i’m not saying yell at someone for having a different opinion, but there’s no harm saying “oh, i didn’t see it that way. can you tell me more?” if you know of someone who has cool/interesting theories, please encourage them to talk more about it!! they probably held back the first time!
COMMENT ON FIC!!!!!! please, we are begging. literally just a heart emoji as a second kudos feels like the bare minimum but damn… sometimes we out here getting NO comments. one single emoji in the inbox might MAKE SOMEONE’S DAY.
if you feel guilty, if you feel greedy, ENGAGE WITH THE CONTENT

being a writer is fun
i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.
Ohhhh… This one actually feels important. MY FICS ARE AWESOME! It doesn’t matter that I get 15 likes at best! I LOVE MY FICS!
I often wonder what happened to authors of unfinished fanfictions.
I hope they’re having a nice life
we absolutely are not and that unfinished fic haunts us to this day
Reblog if that unfinished fic haunts you to this day
Re-reading your own fic is wild.
Okay, that's a really good sentence. Typo. Typo. Huh, did I write this? It's actually not bad. Typo. Hm, I would cut out that part now, but it kind of works. TYPO. Oh, this part is really good. That is the wrong word, wtf? I'm enjoying this more than I thought I would. ANOTHER TYPO? FFS.

worlds slowest fanfic author tries really really hard
everyone in the notes we are all holding hands. everyone who hasnt worked on a wip in weeks or months or years, its okay. we are going slow but we are going
Saw this on Twitter. What 3 potions would you drink?
I would take brown, white, and yellow!
Fanfic writing is 50% actually writing and 50% staring at the screen whispering ‘how do words work again’?
10% googling “synonyms for said”
15% contemplating your life choices
20% changing one sentence 37 times and then changing it back
25% “research” (aka wikipedia rabbit hole until 4am)
30% crying because the scene was better in your head
you forgot that 1% of moments where you write a bomb ass line, and everything feels right in the world. You feel like you can write 10 billion more words based on how cathartic it felt to write that one bomb ass line.
Thought this might help others who struggle when writing. I know I get in my head too much.
#and I think because you are developing like 19 different skills simultaneously#but the ones that you're better at feel smooth and easy and therefore not noticeable#but the places where the pen drags metaphorically feel more significant#so it's like oof ouch the struggle (doesn't notice the 100 hundred things that would be very hard without practice & experience & skill)

[Text ID: I don't know who needs to hear this, but writing is hard because you care about it and you want it to be good, not because you're bad at it. /end ID]
The Final Obstacle ✍️
@steampunkskull
Go through him! When you cut him open, there's so many more perfect scenes inside!
Also blood, viscera, and the screams of readers
Yeah that's what I said!
