Cemeteries are not wastes of space. Historical cemeteries ESPECIALLY are not wastes of space. The fact developers are continuously foaming at the mouth to destroy them and put a strip mall up in their place should make you even more determined to help maintain them. In urban areas, they are a haven for wildlife. They are a green space. If you are too afraid of death to utilize them for that purpose, that is on you.

Thank you. Historically cemeteries were treated as parks, and it wasn't uncommon to see people not only enjoying the grounds but actually playing games and having picnics there. Somewhere along the line we decided that these activities were inappropriate and that cemeteries were off limits and now people see them as wasted space because they feel too awkward to enjoy them.

They're not only beautiful green spaces but excellent public displays of history and art history, and if you care to look closely you can find out a lot just by studying stones.

For example- notice how few modern headstones are dedicated to young children versus the ones erected before vaccines were widespread.

The cemetery near here has the state's largest silver maple crowning its grounds. Many of the trees in older cemeteries are some of the largest and oldest trees in an area.

Cemeteries are for the living, not the dead. Enjoy them. Go birdwatching in them. Don't be stupid in them sure but don't be too afraid to touch them either.

And for the love of God don't mindlessly support turning them into parking lots and ""luxury"" condos.

Your partner since you were young goes on a mission to save your dying planet and doesn’t return as expected. He is assumed lost in space, and everyday things get more dire on the surface. You miss him terribly. And then one day, an ALIEN SPACECRAFT shows up with not only the solution to your dying planet but also your partner.

And you’re probably thrilled but also thrown for a loop because what do you mean 1. Aliens are real 2. They breathe highly flammable gas and 3. Your partner made friends with it. And said alien looks like nothing you’ve ever heard, and has a sense you don’t have at all and is also apparently dying of nutritional loss? And your partner is like codependent as hell with it, and suddenly your entire life changes overnight. Also your partner is himself but also completely different in ways you don’t understand, in ways that are sometimes scary because all that time in space changes a person.

I don’t know how anyone would react to that, cus damn that’s overwhelming, but I think that’s an interesting dynamic to have with an alien. Your partner’s closet companion besides you is an alien. It feels like the alien knows your partner better than you do some days. The alien also helped save your entire planet.

Anyway the dynamic between Grace and Adrian has to be BUCKWILD.

I have exploding disease. Yeah it means I explode. It does go everywhere. It’s fine when I’m alone, I know where to go to minimize the cleanup. Sometimes I don’t put everything back together right away. I don’t invite others over for that reason. Yeah it’s why I don’t leave much. I don’t even really miss being out. I hardly did before and now I guess it was good luck that I didn’t. I think exploding showed me the ease of being pretty minimalist. But I’d still love to come over. Yeah of course. Just, are you okay if I explode? I can do my best to put everything back together but I would be leaving right after. Yeah it’s happened before. It’s uncontrollable. Which bums me out, but I’ll let you know if I sense something. I definitely don’t hide how I’m feeling haha. I think relaying how you’re doing prevents a lot of those TV show moments of people not sharing important information until they’re doing bad. But well. I guess that can be annoying. I don’t know, you just let me know. I’m excited to come over. Hey, are you okay with hugging me still?

a talking point i often see when defending the consumption of dark content is that it’s a coping mechanism for those with trauma which is very valid and true but i also want to make this abundantly clear: you can like dark content for no reason. you can enjoy fucked up shit in fiction because it’s enjoyable and entertaining. trauma is not required as a ticket for entry. enjoy your dark content bc it’s fun and sexy and don’t let anyone take that away from you
