What media / app / tool should I use?
Sometimes it’s just all a bit much isn’t it. There’s so many options on where / how / what you can say / do / express in the public stratosphere. Often none of the things are at all worthwhile, and it’s always self gratifying. But is that ok?
Of course there’s no need to put that thing on snapchat but you had fun messing around with the filter and there’s the chance someone else might chuckle for a short moment, or at least smile in their heads even if it isn’t strong enough to actually affect their faces.
BUT there’s just so much choice. I say this as someone who had practically abandoned Tumblr and just logged in for the first time in at least a year. Then scrolled through the nostalgic overuse from the years that preceded that last post.
A bank of inspiration, ramblings much like this, and commentary from a young woman lost and alone in London. Not that this has very much at all to do with the initial statement I intended to explore. But it kind of does. Back then I didn’t even have a smart phone (too expensive).
My desktop was my primary form of expression. Tumblr gave me the visual identity online of the writer, the commenter and reviewer. Now I have two Instagrams that serve two of those purposes ultimately in short form. The wordsmith may be denied by the capturer is still very active.
That’s the thing though with words they’re awesome. I don’t think there is a word that encapsulates just how incredible I find words. The power to string together letters and turn them into a collection that have meaning and can convey so many things all at once.
I feel as though I’ve turned my back on them a little bit lately. I feel as though the mediums given to us right now so heavily prioritise the visual that words are being left behind.
