soo i started working on this piece after handing in a 14 page final paper for an english seminar in which i GOT TO WRITE ABOUT TID and posthumanism, gender, and subjectivity. i had so so much fun researching for it + writing it and it put me in an infernal devices mindset that resulted in… whatever this is. 

AND YES i realize today is apparently will herondale’s birthday so consider this a post for that too :)) characters belong to @cassandraclare​ ). hope you all enjoy this piece as much as i enjoyed making it <3

the way that in tda jem and tessa keep helping the blackthorns on kit’s behalf because he’s a herondale irks me bc shouldn’t they just help the blackthorns for the same reason? like they are also descendants of will and tessa they just have a different last name bc they come from the female line????

y’all love the morally gray, snarky, grief stricken characters until it’s a woman. i’ve seen so much discourse regarding female characters who display the exact same character traits as male leads and are criticized for it while the men are praised. let women be cruel and vindictive. let them deal with their grief and trauma in destructive ways. let them be real. give them the same treatment you would give to your favorite male love interest.
