Her question shocks him a bit, pausing to look at her as a slightly shocked expression forms upon his visage.  It would be easier to ask what he didn’t love about her, which was nothing.  He loved everything about Melody, the good and the bad, and he wouldn’t have her any other way.  It takes a moment to gather his thoughts before he speaks, placing his hands upon her shoulders with a warm smile.

❝ Melody, I love everything about you.  You are kind and generous and beautiful, both inside and out.  Even the bad parts I love, as they are not as bad as you would make them out to be.  You are everything people should want to be.  You are amazing, little angel.  And you know I wouldn’t lie to you.  Not about this. ❞

His hands move to hold hers in his own and he squeezes them gently, leaning forward to press a kiss to her forehead, lingering for a moment before looking down at her once more, his kind smile never faltering.

Her words hit him like a truck, and he tenses for a moment, his back to her.  What a hypocritical thing for her to say, really.  But he won’t point that out, he’s not cruel.  Instead, he’ll give a dry chuckle, shaking his head before hanging it.  After a silent moment, he turns to face her, no smile on his face, only sadness and bitterness.  His tone was not harsh when he spoke, but it was not kind or soft either.  Rather, he sounded quite empty as words came from him, softly spoken but holding little emotion.

❝ Little angel, when you have lived as long as I have, and seen the things that I have seen, you come to realize that you are not worth some things. ❞

A sigh follows his words as a gentle hand is placed upon her head, ruffling her hair as he forces a smile that comes across not as happy, but as sad.  He speaks once more, his words accompanied by a dry chuckle, though he means no offense with his words.

Something about this girl intrigued him.  Perhaps it was her soul, which was human but also not quite.  Perhaps it was her demeanor, soft and kind and as pure as snow.  Or perhaps it was both.  And so, he gives a soft smile and a nod, taking her hand gently before he spoke, his question and kind tone nothing but sincere.

❝ Alright.  If not here, then where does the lady wish to go ?? ❞

For now, he’ll do as she asks without questions, for now is not the time for what he would like to ask.  For now, he’ll hold his tongue until he feels the time is right.  And perhaps one day, he’ll be able to solve the puzzle that is the girl who stands before him.

At her words, Gabriel freezes.  He’d been prepared to go on his way, but her words....they sounded so frightened and helpless, he couldn’t just leave her.  That would be cruel.  And so, with a soft smile, he turns back towards her, voice coming soft and gentle as not to frighten her further.
