@homaciida
cain + abel; an entirely serious moodboard
perhaps: hell is cold. cold in your bones, freezing your blood over and over. and the demons laugh, laugh at your mortal struggles. they dont feel the cold anymore. they dont have blood or bones or flesh to freeze. perhaps: heaven is not the perfect haven we’ve come to see it as. its chaotic, the chaos and ruin and horror that ensues only from too much peace. Happy souls get restless, anyways. Walls are painted in crimson, all the welcoming smiles full of too-sharp teeth and their kind words with a bloodthirsty edge.
so maybe it’s best to stay on earth, to roam as a ghost and as you always imagined. | a.v.l (via aikelos)
gabriel; (voiceofthedamned)
Date: October 12th
Location: Big Apple Diner
Closed: @homaciida
The diner was surprisingly void of the everyday patrons that typically littered the faux leather seats that were sticky with years of something better left unfounded. Their absence, justified among the chaos of recent events, perplexed Gabriel in the slightest of natures – perhaps the humans of Paradise had finally found themselves spooked enough to combat the innate need to resist the abnormality that had invaded their lives. The idea was rather depressing: to see an admirable quality succumb to the heavy weight of reality.
Despite the quiet atmosphere surrounding the once bustling diner, Gabriel continued on with his own indulgence. The screams of a fork scraping the porcelain of the plate reverberated through the room only to fall on the deaf ears of an uncaring waitress. Even sitting on a dressed dish, the food barely looked appetizing without the usual distraction of overheard conversation. The ringing of the bell above the door caught the attention of his ears but not his eyes. He did not need to see the man that had just walked through the smudged glass door to know who it was. Cain had the unique ability to fill the room, full or empty, with an unwanted presence.
Gabriel waited for the man to approach before meeting his gaze and saying, “And here I thought I would actually be able to enjoy my meal.”
Azure eyes once again focused on the piece of pie in front of him and more importantly eating it. Sugar, too sweet for anyone resisting the development of a sweet tooth, infested every taste bud as the fork slipped from closed lips. “What do you want?” he asked, lips smacking as chewed food interrupted his words to mirror the indistinguishable mumblings of a child.
The novelty of the diner never failed to amuse Cain; the casual presence of demons in such a profoundly human setting enjoying coffee whose quality was debatable at best and around the clock meals which seemed to always feature grease as a main ingredient. He would never venture to this place for the food and very rarely for the coffee. In reality, it was the atmosphere Cain was after, this place that was all at once unique to Paradise and identical to countless diners across the country. As he entered he found himself wondering about the fates of those roadside restaurants and to a greater extent, the state of life itself outside of their little bubble.
A single waitress met his eyes and immediately glanced away. She would doubtless refuse to serve him and Cain couldn’t care less. He was too distracted by the sudden screech of a fork against a plate, fighting the urge to shake his head like a dog to rid himself of the sound, instead seeking out the source of the awful din and finding a familiar blonde head bent over a slice of pie. Suddenly the noise didn’t seem to matter anymore as the beginnings of an amused grin flitted across Cain’s face; perhaps this time he might actually enjoy the company.
“I doubt you could have enjoyed that slop even if I hadn’t charitably decided to keep you company, Gabriel.” He drawled, sliding into the seat across the booth from the other demon and making the mistake of glancing at Gabriel’s mouth, his upper lip curling in slight disgust. Not only it seemed would the other actually attempt to eat the slimy thing quivering on the plate front of him, he would subject Cain to watching him masticate it.
“Is it that hard to believe I wouldn’t want to catch up with one of my peers?” Sarcasm played heavily on his words; yes, it was hard to believe and they both knew it.

holly; (h-gilmore)
Holly glared at him, her mind flashing back to those horrible, horrible memories. The anger inside her blood only seemed to spike at the thought, her defenses snapping into place. She hated them; she hated all these goddamn BEASTS. With a careful tone, the girl retorted, “… he deserved some comfort. When was the last time you’ve been whipped forty times? I’m sure you would want some help afterwards, too.” Whether or not he deserved sympathy could be saved for another debate.
However, upon his next confession, her eyes widened. Brothers? This was – this demon in front of her had been Abel’s brother? ( the very same brother that murdered one of her favorite angels ). The girl didn’t know what to say, her brain still processing the sudden truth, her honest thoughts spilling out uncensored, “… what? Brothers? How? You look nothing alike.”
“I can’t say I've been whipped even once, let alone forty times.” Cain’s tone remained ever casual, unconcerned with the poison behind the words. “But it wasn’t my job to comfort him, in fact that seems to be the exact opposite. And why would I when there was such a long line to do it for me?” And there had been, he would never be surprised by his brother’s ability to network and spark such intense empathy in so many people. It was not his business to keep track of every person who felt sorry for Abel, the great majority of the human population seemed to either way.
Cain waited for anger, insults, the usual response, but her assertion was so out of character in terms of what he had come to expect when people figured out their connection Cain nearly burst out in uncharacteristically loud laughter but contained himself instead, merely shaking his head with a small grin aimed at the ground rather than at the girl who had prompted it. “Brothers through birth apparently, though many have contested that in my life time. The two of us never tried genetic testing so the facts are that that mystery remains unanswered.”
remember me or like mourn me u pick : ))
REMEMBER ME
When he reaches back as far as he can in the empty banks of his mind the first thing he remembers are the needles. They come before the pain that sits like an ever present boulder upon his back, even before he had come to the dark room he calls home. Perhaps, he thinks, he had never not been there, perhaps it had always been his fate to watch innumerable figures pace by his cell and guess which one would inject the drugs into him next- but that couldn’t be right. There was something before the needles, wasn’t there? Something that pounded on the inside of his skull and screamed until there was another prick in his neck and a white hot flash and then ruined film, botched photographs, nothing. Nothing but darkness and innumerable figures with great black wings ( something lurched in his stomach at the thought, furious, mourning ).
Not all of them were indifferent. Some stopped and grouped together and discussed him with raucous laughter and the occasional taunt that meant nothing to him, these insults were meant for a man that actually possessed some sort of past ( - he was climbing the stairs leading out of this stale prison, had an iron grip on a man already bound and lacerated, someone important who had to get away and he could help him, he had to help him - ). A man who had more than just a name. There were a few who didn’t say anything, who just stared. One of them muttered, nearly unintelligible “what a waste,” under his breath as he walked away. One of them ( a flash of red hair, burning eyes ) blessed him with silent tears. He still didn’t know her, none of them.
But he knows this man.
Cain knew him the second he burst into his cell- there had been shouts and the sound of bullets and clashing metal and then he had appeared with blood on his shirt and the panic of battle on his face and it had all disappeared when he had laid eyes on him and dropped his weapon as if he’d been aching to toss it away the second it had been pressed into his hands. There is a sudden stream of words, too much to understand. Cain is still shocked by the jolt of remembrance. He knows these eyes, that halo of dark hair, the concern written all over the not-strangers face; his instinct tells him this isn’t first time that look has been sent his way ( - dark corners and rich, sweet wine, laughter that he had scowled in response to despite the low curl of pleasure in his chest that he had been the one to cause it - ) and the not-stranger is promising to take him away.
“I know you.” Cain says; the words crawl out of a throat rasping with disuse, but he manages- this is the only thing in his life that matters now. “I know you.” A soft hand pushes the shaggy hair from his eyes and Cain has to squint; the light of this man is too much so soon after so much darkness. He feels saturated in it but if anyone could cleanse him, it had to be this angel.
“Yeah, buddy.” There’s a strange quiver to his voice. “You know me.” Cain wants to say something else, he wants to hear something else, he wants to know his name so he can cement the hope blossoming in his chest but there’s more shouts down the corridor and the angel holding him calls back; “He’s here, Abel, he’s here, I found him- ! ” He found him.
Without any understanding of why, Cain starts to cry.
