Giant Spinosaurus Was Bigger Than T. Rex — And First Dinosaur Known to Swim

The largest predatory dinosaur to walk this earth wasn’t the T. rex. It was Spinosaurus aegyptiacus, a 50-foot long creature with powerful jaws and a solid, spiny sail on its back that dwelled in Northern Africa 95 million years ago. But even though paleontologists have known about this particular dinosaur for almost a century, its true form has only just been revealed.

Spinosaurus may have also been the first dinosaur to take to the water, swimming in North Africa’s rivers some 97 million years ago, researchers reported on Thursday.

“Spinosaurus is the only dinosaur that shows [aquatic] adaptations,” said Nizar Ibrahim, a study co-author and paleontologist also at the University of Chicago. These include “a nose opening far back on the skull” which allowed the animal to breathe when its head is partially submerged, he said, as well as cone shaped teeth and slender jaw that would have allowed it to catch aquatic prey. The dinosaur’s hip and leg bones were also reduced compared to other Spinosaurus species. “This is something we’ve seen animals that return to the sea such as the ancestors of modern whales,” Ibrahim said.

I’m conducting some research for the Uni of York Psychology department into better understanding attitudes, personality, and lifestyle within the LGBTQ+ population, which, as it stands, is an under-researched population, with the vast majority of research focusing on straight, cis-gendered participants.

I have a short questionnaire linked below (it takes no longer than ten minutes to fill in) but obviously I need LGBTQ+ people to answer it. It would be very much appreciated if you could take the time to fill it in. All you have to do is identify as anything other than heterosexual. or be a member of the transgender community. Also you have to be over 18. It requires you to answer a short series of questions by selecting one of the provided options. All answers given will be treated totally confidentially and no identifying information will be recorded, therefore, all your data will be completely anonymous. Further, if you wish to withdraw from the study at any time, you can. Even if you don’t personally answer the questionnaire could you please reblog this post? Thanks guys

I wanted to make a post about Leelah Alcorn but I lack the requisite words to describe how I feel. But this is exactly what it should be like. Leelah’s death is a heartbreaking tragedy and it should leave everyone speechless. That being said, however, we cannot simply sit back and mourn her by reblogging text posts and saying how messed up this is. In her note, she said that she wanted her death to mean something. So please, help her rest in peace by helping all you can and adding resources you find below. We can make a change. You matter.

We are hosting a first-of-a-kind scholarship opportunity for transgender, gender nonconforming, and gender diverse students! Scholarships will be between $500 and $2,000 depending on donations. Genderqueer and non-binary are not the same thing

Genderqueer has a slur in it and therefore shouldn’t be used as an umbrella term, but rather as a gender that pertains to an individual

Non-binary is the proper umbrella term for any and all genders that fall outside the gender binary

hey, umm I never really said this to anyone and I want to get this off my chest and ask if it exists I guess. So I'm a 13 year old girl and I'm not sure if I am bisexual or not, I am attracted to males mostly but I do feel some things towards females although not as often. I was wondering if it counts as bi if I prefer one gender over the other but I'm still attracted to both. Also I'm not sure how to tell my friends and family this, I'm just looking for support here before I make that step.

yes of course it counts! plenty of bi/pan/poly people have gender preferences! in fact, i am pansexual but have a heavy preference for non-binary gendered people [i am also nonbinary].

and who know maybe you're bisexual heteroromantic or biromantic heterosexual, your sexual orientation and romantic orientation don't have to be the same. 

your identity is completely valid.
