Hello fellas. I'm back. Still makin' a game but also making art on Newgrounds more so I've actually got more to post.
Figured I should crack open the ol' tumblr again and throw a cheeky Casanuva your way!
A keyframe animation guide for one of my pixel animators. I like being able to make little scuffed animations like these and use art direction as an excuse. Gets the thinky juices flowing.
Updated my art for my D&D characters and I'm really digging how they came out. Here's Wally and Wally!
Various icons for Cleave Together! These represent both status icons and item icons in the game. Even though I really hate animating, I LOVE making pixel icons SO much. Ugh. I wish I could draw them forever.
A quick animation of a goblin and a guard duking it out. This was an motion breakdown that I gave to one of my artists to be tell him "this but pixel art and good".
It's fun to stare at.
Also my game demo is on Steam. : )
One of the final battle animations I had to make for my game (for now).
One of the artists working for me has never used RPG Maker before and I've been guiding her through the confusion that is autotiles. I didn't want her to have to go through what I went through trying to learn all the asset standards and systems so I've been showing her all the best tutorials I've found, giving her explanations, providing examples, etc.
Today she presented me the above meme.
My artists are my babies and I'll continue to protect them with my life.
Catch.
Made some art for the winner of my friend's twitch raffle. The winner requested art of his wife and all their cute pets. : >
Art protected from AI with Glaze!
Animation progress gifs for a bite attack for Cleave Together. Working hard to get all the animations done for the next playable demo.
Finished the Slime Soda battle animation for Cleave Together. I saved gifs of my progress to show off all the individual stages of my progress - sketch, linework, flats and rendering.
These sodas are actually just monsters, bottled up for adventurers' use. Different slime colors inflict different elemental damage when splashed on enemies and do massive damage!
They're also said to taste fruity. Don't ask how I know.
Working on battle animations for my game. Here's a few of the ones I've completed along with a cheeky WIP.
They're not perfect but I, quite frankly, not an animator at heart, so I'm cutting corners... like a lot.
Still think they look reasonably pog.
"You should have bowed before me and sworn fealty."
Mithras from Shin Megami Tensei. An old art piece that I'm still fond of.
Working on animations for the protagonist of my game. The left one is his old version as well as the first sprite I made for Cleave Together as a whole many years ago.
Since its completion, we've hired on other artists that have honestly done a better job on other sprites. Instead of having them lower the quality of their work, I decided that it'd be best to improve the quality of mine instead. It would've been a shame to waste their talent and skill having them match my crappy initial style.
On the right is his new and hopefully final sprite. I'm not a lover of animation (at all) so I never like returning to fix old work. I made sure to push the quality a bit to future-proof the asset so I never ever have to work on it again lmao.
Old gobtober stuff. Goblin adventuring in underpants is silly and tickles my brain just right.
Taking a break from posting pixels to post some good old fashioned digital art.
This is Wally E'scholar, my D&D character. The art isn't actually fully complete but it's as finished as it's going to get. :^)
Wally was in dire need of a redesign since it's been 4 (in-game) years since his last art lmao.
Some older work for the tutorial area of CT's RPG segment. I think I need to make a small step down so that the sand pit in the middle can actually be, y'know, a pit. Also need to think of other ways to populate the space but she works as a placeholder for now. Definitely need a rack for wands, a bookshelf for tomes and maybe a few shields scattered around, for example.
