Lee couldn’t help but let out a hearty laugh as the woman became flustered. He simply shook his head and rubbed her back gently.

“Don’t worry. I didn’t think you meant it like that. However, I’m glad to be here for you. Truthfully, this has been helpful for me as well.”

“It... has?” Kezia murmurs, looking over the taller male and staring for a few silent moments before letting out a gentle sigh. That felt rather relieving...

“... I’m glad I’m not that big of a burden... it feels so nice to be helpful... though, I am curious on how I’ve been helpful...”

“They need only know that you are mine.. And that I belong to you.”

The haze in his mind seemed to lift as he shifted to press his cheek against Rhythm’s. Maybe he really had needed a quick sip of his dearest’s essence to steady himself. What a horrid way to live.. As long as Rhythm didn’t tire of him then he supposed he could deal with it.

At Rhythm’s last words the lord froze, listening for the footsteps that approached before lowering his voice and nuzzling his head against Rhythm’s.

“Of course my l- My love.. I would never willingly leave your side.. Shall we.. Retire to someplace away from everyone else? Or do you have another idea in mind? I will do whatever you wish.. Even if it should embarrass me..”

Rhythm lets out a soft chuckle, a hand reaching up to slide gently through the blonde locks of the lord. This closeness was delightful... but as they dallied together, the footsteps grew ever closer. If Lazarus wished to find a place that was much more private, then... he wouldn’t have any objection.

“I’m quite alright with retiring...” he murmurs, nuzzling his head back against Lazarus’. “Your tent, perhaps? Or somewhere else hidden? We should make our decision soon...”

Gloved hand slaps over his mouth at the mention of blood upon the soldier’s person. It irritated him to no end when the thirst erupted from his core but damn it he didn’t need to hear someone else talk about one’s essence in such a way! It.. Would make him hunger..

“I am not a vampire!”

The soft growl that followed his words died quickly after it started. He’d begun with irritating babble and now he wished for formal introductions? What sort of moron was this man? Lazarus gritted his teeth but then sighed before turning back towards the other and placing a respectful hand to his chest.

“That is correct, sir Lainen, I am Lazarus of the noble house Vaudrei. To answer your question previous, since this is part and partial of an introduction, I worked hard and showed skill to get my rank. That is why I am a captain. My apologies for spoiling whatever mystery you wished to keep.”

... Wait, so he wasn’t a vampire? Well... that was slightly embarrassing. And he’d certainly ruined the mystery of his rank.

This Lazarus fellow was no fun... but at the end of it all, he was his captain. And therefore, there should have been at least a little respect given...

Lainen usually wasn’t very good with that, but he’d try his best!

“... So, sir Lazarus... why are you here, anyways? You don’t seem like the type to be a fighter... ah, no offense.”

“You give in so easily..”

Lazarus chuckled, stealing another kiss from his dear Rhythm’s lips before kissing along his jaw and down that lovely neck until he found the old marks he’d left on him. Tongue trailed over his old bite marks before fangs sank into the soft skin. He was so grateful that he allowed him to do this. Though- He supposed Rhythm also got something out of it as well.

The moment that sweet taste met his tongue, the lord wrapped his arms tightly around the other and clutched onto his clothing. Though he’d only swallowed a little before resting on Rhythm’s shoulder and lazily lapping up what oozed out.

“I suppose I should not allow you to become too stimulated.. Nor myself.. I hear the approach of another.. Though I do not wish to part from you.. You smell too good..”

Only a soft sound left Rhythm’s lips as he felt fangs sink into his flesh. He was doing a rather good job of keeping himself quiet... considering the sounds that he did want to make. The small jolt of pain was enough to send a chill down the swordsman’s spine... and a sound of protest left Rhythm as Lazarus pulled away.

At the mention of another coming, Rhythm blushed some, clearing his throat and nodding some, quickly buttoning up his collar. “Right... we should keep our indecency hidden from the troops... while I’m sure some would love to delve into our secrets, it’s still polite...”

An arm tightly wraps around the lord, though. “You don’t have to leave...”

“Your jests grow old..”

The lord swallowed the lump in his throat. He’d been referred to as soft or feminine looking in the past by his underlings so normally it wouldn’t bother him so much, but gods be damned if someone made inappropriate jests towards that which made him a monster. Thus Lazarus turned away from the soldier, more so to hide his flushed face, and huffed aloud.

“These fangs serve no purpose other than to drain the essence of a person. If you wish to keep the blood within your body I suggest you silence yourself on that topic.. And that of your supposed attraction. I need not be bothered with such fabrications.”

A small chuckle leaves Lainen, looking him over before he turns, walking backwards in order to get a better look at the lord’s face.

“Bet I’d be a little more attractive with some blood on me. How’d a vampire get the job of being a captain anyways. Actually, scratch that and pretend I didn’t ask it. I prefer the mystery.”

Smiling some, Lainen turned to face forward again, a hand reaching up to trail over his own jaw. “So, your name is Lazarus, right? I don’t think We’ve ever been properly introduced. My name is Lainen.”

“You still fluster me, I simply learned to throw it back my beloved..”

Perhaps Rhythm had a point with the fact that he might be hungry and thus believed Rhythm to smell so nice. But he hadn’t the thirst, that was the only thing that curved that thought from his mind. Maybe.. Maybe he was simply.. Giddy? Was that the correct term? His heart was aflutter, so he figured it was that. Then again, his head was rather foggy..

“Have I bitten you recently? That should answer your inquiry..”

Lips gently press to Rhythm’s as a gloved hand moves to fiddle with the swordsman’s collar. The very thought of biting him piqued his interest, and for a moment- The imagery of taking just a little too much so that Rhythm had to rely on him for a little while played in his head. He’d never intentionally do so of course.. But the idea seemed to stick in his head.

“Though, I do wish to.. May I? Your blood is the most delicious thing next to your kisses- And your lewd noises..”

“L-Laz...” the swordsman simply murmurs his name, a blush forming at the feeling of his collar being toyed with. So, Lazarus simply wanted to do it to tease the poor boy... but, Rhythm wasn’t about to deny his love something like this. Especially when the pain felt so remarkably good...

Ah, but he had to restrain those thoughts... for now, at least.

“I can’t deny you... go ahead...” he says, extending his neck gently, reaching a hand up and helping the lord undo his collar. Now it was all free game...

Lee looked at Kezia "You said you wanted to talk?"

Kezia stares for a few moments, biting her lip and staying silent for a little while before a soft sigh leaves her lips, her icy eyes drifting downwards. Silently, she was hoping he had forgotten about it, but…

“I’m just… r-really curious. You have so much mystery about you… I don’t know your intentions, or… your goals…” She pauses before scratching her head softly.

“… Can you maybe… tell me about them…?”

The man shifted to lean back a bit, moving his long braid over his bare shoulder. He looked up at the sky for a moment before looking at Kezia again.

“I promised to help you back in that village, and I promised to help protect you. Plus you seemed like you could use the kindness.” He smiled gently at the woman. “I’m just happy to give it.”

“And... I b-believe that’s what makes you such a g-good person...” A smile comes to the small woman’s face as he she looks him over. She definitely needed the kindness... he wasn’t wrong about that at all.

“I’d been alone for so long until you came around... it’s... really nice to have someone like you now. N-Not that I own you or anything! You’re free to d-do what you w-want...!”

It was as if a thin thread snapped the moment the soldier’s last statement was spoken. Pale cheeks lit up and his normally neutral expression was blown away in exchange for complete and utter embarrassment. What was this man yammering on about? Good gods he dreaded this already!

“I beg your pardon? You best not be referring to me with such a bold statement and gesture, I will put you in your place!”

Unknowingly, Lazarus had bared his fangs in his increasing embarrassment. Sure he was used to being teased by those directly beneath him, but someone he knew no longer than a few minutes? It was- Unthinkable! And extremely flustering.. He really had to get a better handle on these things.. He needn’t throw empty threats at his own people.

Lainen can’t help but smirk at the sudden flustered and embarrassed expression that the lord had to deal with. Though, his eyes immediately drifted to the fangs that the lord had hidden behind his mouth.

How intriguing...

Still a solemn sigh left the raven-haired man as his eyes drifted forward, though the smirk remained plastered upon his features. “I’ll keep it to a minimum. You know I find you attractive now. That’s all that’s needed. Though, those sharp teeth of yours do seem awfully kinky...”

Once that gentle hand was placed upon his person a smile slowly curved his lips once more. Rhythm was so understanding, Lazarus really could appreciate that. That, and his kisses. A low purr vibrated from the blond’s throat at the act of affection and he was quick to close the distance and nuzzle his face into the other’s shoulder.

“Is that.. So..”

Chuckling, the lord pulled himself back again and gently touched his nose to Rhythm’s cheek. He could feel the heat radiating from him, and smell the sweetness under his skin. He was embarrassed.. How adorable.

“Thank you my beloved.. Please.. Feel free to embarrass me with your affections whenever you feel the wish to.. I can never deny you.. Gods you smell so good today too.. Did you practice the sword earlier? Perhaps I just missed your smell so much that you smell extra sweet at the moment..”

Lazarus couldn’t recall the last time he’d been so.. Talkative.. He blamed it entirely on his complete and utter adoration of the wonderful swordsman before him.

“G-Gods...!” Rhythm let out an embarrassed whine at the words Lazarus spoke. Through everything... through his previous dally into romance, Rhythm had never felt this way. Especially when it came to how much he knew Lazarus cared about him...

“You say such embarrassing things... it’s as if the roles have reversed... I used to be the one flustering you all the time...” Gently, the swordsman’s hand slid into the lord’s hair, pulling Lazarus ever so closer.

“Mm... but... have you fed recently...? Maybe that’s why you think I smell so nice...”

A long, resigned sigh leaves him as he gently shakes his head. “Otherwise, what would I do it for? Sure, I can be thick headed sometimes, but…”

Eyes flit between the fiery-haired woman and down to the ground, unsure of where they should rest.

“… What do you think? You think all this will be worth it?”

“I’ve no doubt in our abilities, Lainen. The Skies, we’re a force to be reckoned with.” It was true both of them were rather equipped, and there was no question of skill. They were sought for a reason.

“Hard when you know you’re going to be fighting against people you know. That’s home. I’ll have more than theft on my plate.”

Briefly, the rogue falls silent, pushing her head into her knees and huffing.

“You sure know the right things to say though. Thanks, Friend.”

“... The Skies...” Lainen repeats, giving a soft smile at the thanks he receives. Still, what an interesting term... this wasn’t the first time he’d heard Zimra use it, but only now did it pique his curiosity.

“... You’ve never explained that saying. ‘The Skies.’ I know I’m not too familiar with your home, but... if someone wants this client dead, there must be a reason. Hopefully for the greater good...”

“No soldier is expendable.”

Diamond irises narrow into feline-like slits for a moment before eyes close in slight irritation. He hadn’t caught the name of this particular soldier but by the gods he knew he’d be one of those.. Special cases.. Blond lashes lift once more, gaze focusing on the other before he gathered his wit to speak.

“I suppose you will accompany me after all. I would rather not deal with harassment issues between the female soldiers and yourself.”

The force with which Lazarus spoke to him threw Lainen off somewhat, blowing him back just a moment as his face falls. While it was a very respectful mantra to state... the black-haired soldier really had no idea if the lord actually believed in what he said.

A soft sigh leaves him as he moves to the side of Lazarus. “Well, I certainly don’t mind if you’ll have me. Though, even if I do miss the female soldiers already...” Lainen gives a wink to the lord as he smirks.

“Sometimes the males are more desirable.”

White diamonds flick upwards from the swordsman’s wrist to his face. How soft he looked today.. How very soft.. Be still his heart, Rhythm was too good to him in so many ways. He allowed him to feed on him, he loved him, he made him feel wanted..

“W-.. Rhythm, w-would it be wrong of me to state that I would not mind such.. Displays of your affection more often? I-I mean- I adore all displays of your affection-! I adore you in general! I-I.. Rh-Rhythm help my heart is racing..”

His sudden confession made the lord’s face burn a cherry red and made his hands tremble. He wasn’t good with speaking his feelings, but he did so adore when Rhythm did those things.. It actually made him feel.. Happy? Yes, happy.

Rhythm blinks as the lord confesses, before a soft chuckle leaves him as he moves, placing a hand gently on Lazarus’ chest. The poor thing got so easily flustered... and he knew how calming his touch was to the other.

“Calm, my dear... calm. I adore you too. I simply didn’t want to embarrass you in front of anyone...” Gently, the swordsman leaned forward, kissing the lord’s cheek softly. “If you want me to be more affectionate, I can certainly oblige... though, I must admit... “

A pause, as Rhythm’s face slowly reddens as well. “I... do get a bit nervous... still...”

Lee looked at Kezia "You said you wanted to talk?"

The large man nodded and listened as she spoke. He couldn’t help but smile as she spoke so fondly of her mother.

He watched the woman as she sat down beside him. “Well you’ll get there. Each and every day you get just a little better, and that’s really all you can hope for. Perhaps some day you’ll be able to get not only to the same level, but past it.”

“... Thank you for those kind words...” Kezia murmurs, giving a smile to Lee as she leans back some, stretching out. It was rather nice weather right now... gently, she shrugged off her coat, a soft sigh of contentment following.

“You’ve been nothing but kind to me ever since we met... I really, truly appreciate you being there for me for so long...”

Lee looked at Kezia "You said you wanted to talk?"

Lee nodded, contemplating a bit. Finally he smiled gently.

“Then my goal will be to assist you in your goal. A fine goal indeed.” He chuckled, sitting down. “Perhaps, you’d be willing to tell me about your mother?”

“She was... d-delightful. A very hard-working woman... who did her best to s-support me. Her name was Kira.” Kezia pauses, a smile coming to her face as she thinks back on the memory. Slowly, she moves her hands apart, shadows forming between them. “She taught me how to use this magic... and even though she hid it from me for so long... I respected and admired her. She would teach me lessons all the way until she finally passed...”

A soft sigh leaves Kezia as she shrugs, the shadows dispelling as she sits down next to Lee now. “I-I was the one who developed this dark magic into a h-healing potency... and for that, I know she would be p-proud. But... I feel like I can still do more... I’m n-nowhere close to her level...”

“Must you remind me of that ungraceful excuse for a meeting?”

Red tints pale cheeks and blue eyes shift away from Rhythm. Of course he hadn’t meant to trip that day.. It just happened. Often.. Unfortunately.. A deep breath is drawn before a sigh takes it away again. His chest had tightened when Rhythm admitted to having been scared, but of course that had been washed away by the grabbing of his hand. Lazarus almost shied away from the gesture too.. Until he used it as an excuse to draw him closer and press lips to his wrist, and continued to do so repeatedly as he spoke.

“Perhaps.. You remember your confession to me? That dazed look on your face.. It reminded me of when you shoved me into a tent to kiss me.. Your desperation was.. Adorable..”

Almost immediately, Rhythm lets out a whine as the memory rushes to the forefront of his mind. What a remarkable turn of events that was... and while the embarrassment was slightly lessened with the romantic, sweet gesture along his wrist, it still couldn’t prevent a blush to form upon his face.

“Those were simpler times... I was so impulsive. Granted, I still am, but... being with you seems to have evened that out a bit...” A small smile comes to his face, Rhythm tilting his head ever so slightly.

“I still do enjoy kissing you quite a bit. Especially with desperation... though I’m not sure it comes around often enough. I’m not desperate to prove myself to you anymore... not desperate to show how willing I am to be with you. I know that you realize how much you mean to me...”
