Petition to remove the W from Wooseok’s english name
For confused peeps:
우 in korean is pronounced: oo like in “shoot”
For korean names, people still use a traditional and older style of romanization
Therefore we have the word 우산 (Umbrella) which is romanized into Usan
And the name 우석 romanized into Woo Seok
Basically, the W is silent and simply there to not make his name look weird
As you can hear in the video above, when used in a sentence, especially following after a vowel, it can sound like there would be a W
Idk if anyone cares about this but I personally want to call my biases by their korean names and not mispronounce it or something :)
Same with names like Dowoon (도운), Woojin (우진) and Seungwoo (승우)
