melrose: "Let's just leave it at don't steal anyone's kids. The doctors? Why are you at the doctors? I swear to god if you're sick I'll kill you. And if Scout is sick I'll kill you twice. Everyone needs to be super freaking healthy. Tell the receptionist she's terrible at parenting for me then."

Clarissa laughed lightly as she watched Melissa do her work. an amused gleam flashing in her eyes. While she was undeniably stressed about the week to come (not only over the deed itself, but the fact that only a small chunk of the people they had invited couldnāt attend), she was glad to see that things seemed to be under control at the venue. One hand held up her cell, dark hair and high wooden ceilings dancing through, while her free hand rested lightly above her fianceeās knee, an absentminded gesture. The blondeās lips curled into a small smile and she shrugged. āAlive for now, at least. A lot can happen in two days.ā Her tone took a teasing lilt. āSo far no meltdowns, though, so Iād say Mel is right and weāre good here.ā
Melrose didn't like to show stress in distressed expressions or being upset, but instead tended to either do a lot of shouting or violence against inanimate objects, as quite very many would know from her tennis career. Despite the possibility for stress, she'd been quite calm, not completely bthered by people who couldn't attend. As long as her giant, mismatched family and everyone Clarissa needed were there, it would be enough. Peering at Clary, she smiled a little and placed her hand on top of hers. "Usually it's me suggesting death is forthcoming, good to see I'm rubbing off on you." She nodded and looked back at the hone, relaxing her shoulders. "How's it going over there? Anything we need to know?"

Okay, but there must be some kind of rule in the best friend handbook that says youāre required to be my last minute date to my half-sisterās wedding. And if thereās not, then there really should be.
Sabrina, I hate to be the one to tell you, but there is no best friend handbook... regardless, why would you want me to come and not one of your many suitors? Or someone who owns a suit that doesn't look two sizes too big.
