HQ Rare Pairs Week - Day 4 - ChildHood [Oikawa/Akaashi]

Oikawa has a conversation about aliens with a merman.

Oikawa couldn’t move, too busy staring at what was before him. His camera, an old Polaroid his grandmother had given him, dangled around his neck.  Oikawa blinked twice, still not quite believing what he’d seen. It was dark out, but the sky was cloudless illuminated by a bright, whole moon shining over the rocks Oikawa was laying on. The creature – Oikawa knew what it was but he feared letting himself admit it – stared back at him, cocking his head to the side.

“Are you – are you real?” Oikawa said.

The creature leveled him with a narrowed gaze, looking over him swiftly as its tail flickered in the water but he made no move aside from tilting his head in the other direction. It was a beautiful creature, with short dark hair, short thick eyebrows, and narrow, dark almost disinterested eyes. Oikawa wasn’t even sure this creature could understand him.

“I’m lying right before you aren’t I?” The creature – merman said, if Oikawa was going to be truthful.

HQ Rare Pairs Week - Day 3 - Date [Lev/Yachi]

Yachi didn’t really understand Lev’s obsession with seeing her in his clothes. They were always too big for her, almost like a blanket. Lev had even admitted to having to get custom made clothes sometimes simply because he was too tall. But he was always more than eager for Yachi to try on his shirt or bundle up in his sweater. His clothes always smelled like a mixture of his cat, cloves, and home cooking. Lev sat on the floor with his long legs spread wide as beckoned for Yachi to sit in his lap. They’d only started dating but already Lev was so eager for physical affection. Yachi always felt like her head was going to burst from the embarrassment of it all.  His Nekoma jersey fell all the way to her thighs, still warm from the dryer and smelling like the sweet scented laundry detergent his mother used. Yachi settled down gingerly and bent her head in embarrassment. Lev never had much of a shy bone in his body.

“It looks really cute on you, Hitoka!” Lev said.

He’s unsettled.

Maybe the entire ship is as well, but Kuroo feels it very acutely, setting sparks in his belly and catching his breath somewhere in his chest.  Now that the adrenaline’s worn down, and the aches in his ribcage have begun to settle in, he’s hit with something like a reality check, like a shock to his system, and he can’t stop thinking about those heavy eyes on him, picking him apart inch by inch, even though he is handcuffed to the pipes in the storeroom.

Sugawara isn’t expecting to run into any of his classmates at the neighborhood gym when he arrives early on a Saturday morning, yawning at the counter with his guest pass clutched in one hand. If he was going to find anyone here, though, Asahi is definitely the most likely candidate.

Karasuno’s ace is doing bicep curls near the window. Since the gym is so small, Sugawara can see him clearly from where he’s standing, which means he misses most of what the receptionist tells him about using the locker rooms and whatnot as she hands him his key.

For a second, he considers leaving and coming back another time, but dismisses that thought quickly. That would be silly. They train together all the time, how would sharing gym space be any different?

It’s not the slow rumble of distant thunder that wakes Akaashi up.

He’s still caught midway between dreaming and wakefulness when he feels Kenma’s foot jerk and knock against his shin, when he feels them toss and turn furtively in the bed, twisting the sheets up into a zig-zagging mountain range of fabric. Kenma’s fearful whimpers and gasps, quieter than the thunder and even the rush of rain, map out Akaashi’s path back to full alertness.

He sits up and blinks as his eyes adjust to the dark.
