The moment in Chapter Ten, when Nicky asks Neil to go to the store with him for ice cream, really touches me to the core. Neil is faced with a choice: watch another Wildcats game or pay attention to something other than Exy.

While Neil hesitates, weighing his options, Andrew appears beside Nicky — and something just clicks in his mind. He remembers what Nicky said about Exy not being able to replace his whole world. And he’s thinking about that while looking at ANDREW, AAAAAAA

Andrew became something important to Neil in such a short time, just like Neil did for Andrew. What amazes me the most is how Andrew started trusting Neil enough to let him touch him. And I love that with Neil’s arrival in his life, all the principles and rules that Mary had so carefully instilled in Andrew fell apart in just a few months.

И мне нравится, что с приходом в жизнь Нила Эндрю все принципы и наставления, что так усердно выращивала в нем Мэри сломались за жалкие несколько месяцев.

after visiting germany, nicky’s internal clock gets completely thrown off; he’s tossed between time zones. he might suddenly wake up in the middle of the night in the u.s. cuz it’s already morning in germany, or crash into bed in the middle of the day in germany cuz it’s already nighttime across the ocean. it’s uncontrollable, and at first, many people can’t get used to the fact that he lives on a completely different schedule (and it’s not always convenient).

Neil drifts over to Andrew, who’s perched on the windowsill, and asks a quiet, “Yes or no?” At Andrew’s brief nod, he steps closer, slipping his arms around Andrew’s waist and pressing in, burying his face in the curve of his neck. Andrew knows Neil rarely craves touch, but if he’s come to him like this, then he must be aching for it in return. The weight of Neil’s arms around him is grounding in a way that feels almost unfamiliar, and Andrew lets his hands settle at the back of Neil’s neck, fingers threading through his tousled hair as he listens to the soft rhythm of his breathing against his skin. They don’t need words for moments like this — just Neil standing between his hips and trying to come down from the weight of a long, exhausting day. There’s something steady in it, in the way Andrew’s arms wrap tight around Neil, as if he could shut him off from the rest of the world and keep it at bay.

A few minutes later, Neil presses a soft kiss to his neck — a quiet thank you. He starts to pull away, thinking Andrew’s had enough, that it’s time to let go, but Andrew feels the hesitation in it. His grip tightens, pulling Neil back in, pressing his face once more into the crook of his neck. “Stay a little longer,” he murmurs.

I know that his last year at Palemetto Neil gets bullied up and down for "missing his boyfriend" It. Is. Constant. And from all sides too, considering Wymack is probabbly the one that started the joke.

But then after one of the games where the Foxes win, Andrew surprise visits and Neil Josten laughs with delight. He starts buzzing from joy and no one has ever seen him so openly happy before. They tone down the bullying for, like, the next two days.

He doesn't even bother describing people he doesn't find important. Meanwhile the difference between meeting Andrew for the first time vs him having fallen in love with him has Neil waxing poetry about Andrew and it's so funny. I’m gonna be honest as someone’s who’s aroace Neil has never read to me as someone who’s on the ace spectrum.

I know there’s the infamous “I don’t swing” line but the reason Neil doesn’t is because he was never allowed too and he said it himself.

Which speaks to more to me about his mother’s control than Neil not being personally interested in anyone.

And yeah he’s oblivious to people being attracted to him including Andrew until it’s literally spelled out to him. But that’s a pretty standard trope for his kind of character.

Granted I’m not demisexual myself so you know maybe I’m missing something but I just never got that vibe from him.

I’ve seen people talk about how Kevin feels aromantic coded and that Andrew gives of ace vibes and I can see where those comes from.

But Neil not so much.

this is my opinion, we all have different perspectives and that's really cool, I just want to add to the conversation with my own as an ace myself (: that being said—

For me it's in the way his perspective and internal voice doesn't even notice other people as potential sexual nor romantic partners. He sees people as traits rather than bodies I think.

For example, the most obvious one, the whole conversation with Nicky abt women being soft. Nicky is like: their BODIES but Neil is: their PSYCHE, their DETERMINATION, their MINDSET.

I love how this applies with Andrew too. He's like: Andrew is strong enough for me to RELAY ON HIM, he can PROTECT. Andrew's personality is SAFE.

I don't remember how the scene at Eden's goes word by word, but someone pushes him again Andrew's chest and Neil's first thought is: He can hold me like a wall would, he's not necessarily thinking: uhh, kinky

I just love to see it that way
