caleb was nothing shy of delighted to hear a young child take interest in cricket facts.Ā āthatās very true.ā he looked at yuxi.Ā āoh, sheās probably younger than gen z. iām not saying that gen z doesnāt have its share of passionate, curious youth, but some of them are in that stage where they think theyāre too cool for books.ā okay, maybe in this instance he was specifically referring to his sister nova and her friends making fun of him for being a nerd, but that was neither here nor there. he chuckled good-naturedly at the caretakerās words.Ā āiām pretty good at handling younger people, unless i suppose itās a bunch of rowdy college kids in a band.ā

with a shake of his head, he replied,Ā āwell, of course, jini... i read books.ā he paused, hoping to improve his approach and ingratiate himself with her. their past was awkward, but there was no reason to be stuck in that. forgive and forget, as they say. and also, he really wanted certain autographs, but that was irrelevant.Ā āi mean that in the humblest way possible. learning is a beautiful... and... humbling experience.ā he may as well be hanging a sign over his head saying,Ā āiām so humble. super. i hope you notice this.āĀ āthe euphoria that comes with, you know, realising that i have so much to learn about the planet we live on... i love that.ā

hi everybody! this is my other muse, caleb young. to sum it up: this man is an absolute goddamn nerd, but one that regularly hits the gym.
TARON EGERTON, 31, CIS MAN, HE/HIM, HETEROSEXUAL, MUSE B + G1 Ėāą¼Ų Ė i just saw CALEB YOUNG today. they seem so RUMINATIVE, donāt they? HE can be so INGENUOUS, but theyāre not all bad. HE can be so ALTRUISTIC too. theyāre a pretty good WRITER too, right?
caleb was born in hauthorne, england, to a lower-middle-class family. he wasnāt a total troublemaker, though he did cause some ruckus with his friends growing up. but though he was clever and a pretty good kid, he always felt that he was destined to just... rot. his existence was meaningless. you know, nihilism, usual kid stuff.
his nihilistic point of view was compounded by the fact that he grew up in a poorer neighbourhood. he didnāt think he would amount to anything, even just in real-world terms. even just inĀ āi would get a nice job in the future and live in a nice houseā terms.
he didnāt angst about it. it was fine with him. he was really quite zen about it. he simply did not give a fawk. that was the recurring theme, really: he didnāt care. who cares about anything? why bother?
things shifted when his friends pranked him by sending his personal collection of essays to elias chapelle university. caleb may have been #idgaf all the time, but he was pretty damn good at writing to bide his time. to everybodyās surprise, the faculty at ecu thought that his writing was... amazing. amazing enough for him to be offered some tests at ecu.
they tested him. their tests were rigorous for all possible students. he scored well. much as he didnāt care for the world, it turned out that caleb young seemed to have cared more than enough for books. he was knowledgeable and intelligent, and so he was eligible soon enough for one of ecuās elusive slots.
caleb declined. he just didnāt know what he would do with an ecu scholarship. he wasnāt one of those mensa kids, he didnāt win any science fairs, it felt so strange to suddenly be considered some kind of teenage prodigy. but the fact alone that he was deemed admissible to ecu was enough to bolster his later university applications.
although the world of academia was intimidating for him at first, caleb did pursue something scholarly. he continues to write now, and his main thing as an academic writer is trying to use modern, accessible language as free from old-fashioned verbiage as possible. he even finds way to utilise gaming apps and social media to disseminate info.
one unfortunate thing about caleb is that heās sometimesĀ too generous. heās probably had at least one girlfriend who was a gold-digger, ngl. especially when heās in love, heāll be like,Ā āhey, baby. hereās 5 new necklaces for you. and 5 dresses. i bought you 10 boxes of chocolate. plus all your favourite flavours of ice cream. itās no problem!ā i mean, he was so accustomed to having no money and now he HAS money thanks to his income from the publication of his writings. to him, itās only logical that heāll use his newfound financial stability to treat those that he adores, right? too bad that leads to some people taking advantage of his kindness, whether itās romantic or platonic, whether itās intentional or not.
