“ summer classes are kinda destroying me, i know i need them but sometimes, they’re just so long and boring. they make my brain hurt. especially math and science; of course my two worst classes in high school and college. i appreciate the teachers’ help but i really wanna ask them if i can get like...an engagement B R E A K? kinda like what ladies do when they have a baby. m-...material leave..? — i don’t know but even just like a week or two would be awesome. ”

they didn’t know what to say at this moment of time, the feeling that east wants to marry them is something unbelievable and too good to be true. “ of course, yes. i will marry you, sunshine. ” they answered as their own lips were pressed against east’s own.
east literally could feel his face light up with excitement, “ oh my god, really? ” was this happening? was this happening? “ thank you, oh my god. i’m so in love with you. ” the kiss was happily returned in this moment of pure shaky, breathtaking joy along with the calm and romantic, dimly-lit beach atmosphere. the taller male wrapped his arms probably-too-strongly around the other with a giddy chuckle and a second kiss to their cheek, “ oh my god. ”

“ you don’t have to do anything for me, baby. ” they admitted before they were lead towards the gazebo with flowers surrounding the pair. “ oh, tell me anything. ask me anything. ”
“ you’re right maybe i don’t. but i want to. i want to give you the world. ” east took a deep breath in, “ ok, there’s gonna be a lot of explaining before it so bear with me. — i love you, gar. but i guess that’s not really a surprise. but anyway — i love how your smile can make me smile even when i’m sad. i love how smart you are and how sometimes, you make me feel smart in my own special way. ” the tall blonde gulped quietly and nervously stumbled his way down to one knee before continuing with the rehearsed, briefly forgotten speech, “ um...oh! i’ve asked lots of people throughout the past month what love really is and how it’s supposed to feel. and i remember someone saying it’s the way you feel when you wanna be the best person you can be for someone else. some kid also said it’s when you feel like your heart is laughing. that was my favorite one. and that’s the way i feel with you. ” he cleared his throat, “ i love how beautiful you looked when you tried on that flower crown i made you when we first met. i mean you’re always beautiful but — yeah. you’re amazing and i love you. and i know that i don’t know all that much and sometimes i just can’t understand the simplest things. but if there’s one thing i understand completely on this earth is that i am in love with you. and i can’t stand the wait, so, ” this was it. the ring box was pulled from his back pocket before he fumbled with it in an attempt to open it. when east finally got it open, revealing a ring of durably braided flower stems, he felt tears well up in his eyes and his heart pounding in his chest. and butterflies; more butterflies than he’d ever had. would they like it? would they understand the sentimental value and that he couldn’t afford an actual ring? questions like those filled his head yet here he was, on one knee, proposing to the human that he believed deserved all the love and happiness the world had to offer. “ g-garnett adams, will you please marry me? ”

“ i couldn’t have agreed with you more. ” they let out a smile before they looked towards the beach side, although they still weren’t sure why east wanted them to wear their only dress for this event but it was anything for the both of them and besides, it made garnett happy. “ what is that? baby? ”
“ well, it’s uh, it’s something for you. let’s go, yeah? ” he took their hand and led them down to the beach. stepping into the gazebo filled with beautifully scented flowers, east began, trying not to get shaky, “ so, hey you remember when you told me what butterflies in my stomach meant and helped me understand graphic organizers? i kinda have another random question. ”

“ what’s stopping you from staying with me forever in this bed? ” they asked as they moved to lay on top of the male. “ summer classes don’t need you and i don’t have any summer jobs going on, so cuddles please. ”

east laughed at something garnett had said as they walked back towards the beach. “ today has been so much fun. ” and it’s going to get even more fun, east thought. he had his fingers crossed in his mind that everything would go to plan as he touched the ring box in his pocket, reminding himself that it's still there and it's happening. the lit up gazebo came into view for him first since he was taller and they proceeded to walk forward.

“ i wanna spend the whole day with you as well, it’s lonely by myself. ” they admitted before they kissed him on the lips in response. “ we can do that. yes. but can we go later? i wanna spend the morning being held by my favorite person. please? ”
“ yay! same here. and i just love you so there’s that too. yeah, let’s do it later! and you’re my favorite person too. ” he smiled at the smaller person, “ i would stay here with you forever if i could. ”

there had been some ease about this morning unlike any other. their medication had been refilled and they were allowed to sleep without the need of certain situations with their anxiety, they were on a trip away from the walls of sutton and with the person that they loved in a small beach hut near the sea. what more could they want? “ bed. longer. cuddle. ” they argued against the good morning and they rearranged themselves against east’s chest.
east laughed at the other’s argument, “ fair enough. ” he caressed their jawline before kissing their lips. “ thanks for the good morning, by the way. — i wanna spend the whole day with you. like, i wanna go to a museum and a restaurant and stuff. ” he still had to text a friend to see if they would help set up for the occasion tonight. there was a perfect image of the scene in his mind.

today was the day; east was going to propose to garnett today. he had been giving it a lot of thought but at this point, he knew that was what he wanted. he reached a hand under the bed to hold the ring box on the floor beneath them. of course, the price of a real ring was far out of east’s budget but he had made a ring out of flower stems braided together that was initially meant to be a promise ring. the only thing that changed that was the fact that east genuinely couldn’t wait any longer to get engaged to his boyfriend and be with them forever. a small smile washed over his face at the thought before he rolled over and wrapped his arms around garnett’s waist. with a kiss to the back of their neck, east held them close, “ good morning, angel. ” @fckgarnett

“ i think so too. would that be something you’d like to do? like if i were to propose like, tomorrow, would you say yes? i mean, n-not that i’m going to propose tomorrow but yeah, if. ”

those three words still brought the same warm, giddy smile to east’s face after almost half a year as he stared into garnett’s brown eyes. after a pause, east blurted, “ do you think we’ll ever get married someday? ”

east: would that be considered proposing? idk
