Your favorite writers Do Not Know that you think about their stories after you read them. I generally assume that my stories make people happy for the few minutes they’re reading and then they never think about it again. so heres my thing about all this. while i truly dont THINK this is a final goodbye - based on observation and wishful thinking, mostly - if it IS a goodbye i can rest easy knowing that it's been entirely on THEIR terms.

THEY got to decide how to do this tour - what bands to play with, what songs to revisit, how to look, how to Sound, they got to make a new playlist every night with songs THEY wanted to play, got to dress however they wanted and do whatever they wanted on stage without being tied down to an album aesthetic or industry standard. they got to play with their best friends the way THEY wanted to, got to play in front of their families and loved ones every night, go to turn songs written about pain and tragedy and sorrow into songs about hope and perseverance and love and triumph.

IF it's a goodbye, if they decide theyre done and don't want to continue, if they decide that they only wanted to come back for one tour and then call it quits for good, i'll be happy knowing that it isn't the same sudden, tumultuous, painful goodbye from 2013.

i HOPE it's not goodbye. i don't want it to be goodbye. but if it IS goodbye then it's a gentle, loving goodbye - a hug that lingers, a hand that squeezes yours for a second before letting go, a promise to stay alive and keep going, even if we don't see each other for a while.

I know that telephone pole intimately because I’m the one who broke it.

Thats the pole next to Sycamore Jr. High, in between the jr high school and Pipkins, where I had my second car accident.  A woman t-boned my car and drove me into that pole in 2008 and it took them years to actually take it down.

That black metal pole you see just beyond the broken phone pole is a “Now Leaving/Welcome To Blue Ash, Ohio” sign, visible at 5520 Cooper Road on google maps.
