This is more of an Ernest headcanon but: Ernest actually thinks Hugo is kind of cool, especially with his wrestling things which is why he hasn't shaven his baby-stache because he wants to grow a stache like Hugo (and he thinks it's manly to have facial hair)

Ernest probably also feels infuriated that his dad can grow a mustache easily and he still can’t

Y'know what. I have a hc that bc Ernest smokes he has an oral fixation and still sucks his thumb. After dadsona comes into their lives Ernest becomes more used to being in the family cuddle pile, one day falling asleep and this is when Hugo makes the discovery. It's almost endearing but neither bring it up.

I’m sure it’ll remind Hugo of little kid!Ernest and he’ll have a “why do they grow up so fast?!” moment that Dadsona will find absolutely adorable

Headcannon: Ernest is dislexic that's why he's having so much trouble in school but he hasn't told his dad about this yet so he still thinks his son is just going through a rebelious phase.

I’m sure once Hugo finds out, he’ll mentally kick himself for not realizing it earlier.
