ok hi. i'm insane ive been a mattbruce truther since the year of our lord 2019 or so ever since i watched the trial of the incredible hulk (which i deeply implore you to all watch as you will See where im coming from here) but they also have such an interesting relationship in the comics that has structurally weakened the foundation of my sanity. theyre like termites in there
they both got their “powers” through traumatic experiences involving radiation in which they both sacrificed themselves to save the life of a total stranger
these powers came at a great cost: matt lost his sight and bruce lost his autonomy and personhood, etc. they both have had to reconcile these losses with the abilities they now have & are quite conflicted on using them at times (bit of an understatement from bruce's perspective but whateverrr)
they are both whores for pain. they will both get beaten to fuck and still get back up. are they masochists are just Really Sad. or are they both?
matt's ability to hear heartbeats would come as a comfort for bruce, who has a difficult time monitoring how hes feeling unless he has implants that measure his biosignals. theres a bit from indestructible hulk #8 (shown below) that exhibits this..
their senses of humor are very compatible i think. they both use that dry, irreverent sarcasm

on that note they also have devil 'personas' - both daredevil AND devil hulk are figures that extrajudicially fight for the justice that the system fails to deliver. they could be the anti cop anticapitalist power couple if you just LISTEN TO ME marvel
THE TRIAL OF THE INCREDIBLE HULK
this movie is.. well to put it simply it's kind of everything. how else can i describe it other than this video (SORRY IT'S SO POOR QUALITY IT'S ALL I HAD)
but anyway. the way matt reveals he's daredevil so readily with bruce just to get him to trust him... the way they both hold this secret they can't share with anyone but each other... matt feeling up bruce's face... the hulk bridal carrying matt... not to mention bruce nurses matt back to health after a debacle with fisk that leaves him very injured and despondent !! aaaaiiieeeeeeeeeee
in the comics matt is bruce's lawyer, but more than that he's perhaps one of the first people to a) treat bruce like a normal guy & stand up for his rights and dignity as a human being and b) treat the hulk as a PERSON he can rationalize with and not some mindless monster/extrusion of bruce. in fact, matt was the hulk's first 'real' friend (minus rick)
matt first becomes bruce's lawyer because bruce requested him by name (which leads me to think that the trial of the incredible hulk Is canon, as i don't believe theyve met or interacted before this?) after being captured by the military (what else is new..) to be put on trial. for the death penalty
matt standing up for bruce <3 <3 <3 <- average hulk fan is so deprived of characters that hold his best interests at heart and gets all dewey eyed when a guy tells ross to stop sedating him
anyway they give bruce a stimulant to negate his sedative (probably a good idea) and bruce understandably gets quite upset at being put on trial for the death penalty because this is before his suicidal era and so he hulks out & everyone is all scared because theyre on a Plane but matt just talks to him like a person and surprise!!! it's chill
