I totally support disarming households where domestic violence is occurring. I know that is a controversial and opinion with a nuanced discussion surrounding it. A single call should be enough for there to be noooooo more guns in the residence. Gun deaths go up significantly when there is a gun in the residence. It usually ends in a homicide or a suicide, sometimes both. In the rare event that a victim shoots their abuser, they are drug through the courts like a fucking dog. Guns do not defuse arguments, they escalate them so quickly and so often. I’m so tired of known violent abusers being allowed their guns or having them briefly confiscated and immediately returned while people who were convicted of nonviolent felonies are not allowed to own guns at all. Either we’re disarming people who pose an active risk to others or we’re approving of family violence related homicides.
