Here is a demonstration of how to get a nice textured white background like the one in the Patreon promo photo or the Valentine photos. Why does it look like a white nightgown tied to a chair? Because it is a white nightgown tied to a chair and it works great! Other colours of nightgowns tied to chairs have also been featured on this blog.
Now on to lighting: My room has windows on two walls so I get a lot of natural light, but when I need a little more I use a flashlight with a white t-shirt draped over it to prevent the yellow flashlight glare.
Cell phone cameras are good enough these days! No need for anything more!
I don’t own a tripod, so how did I do those stop motion videos that need the camera to be held still? For most, I cut slits in a small cardboard box to hold the phone up. For another where I needed the phone to be higher, I honestly just taped it to the side of my desk.
Finally, to edit photos I use pixlr.com! Unlike photoshop, it is totally free. If you’re in your 20s like me you are probably having horrible flashbacks to your 2008 Myspace emo days because when we weren’t using Blingee to add glitter text to everything we were using Pixlr to add lame filters. Yes it’s the same site, and I too am shocked it’s still around.
tl;dr I’m broke and have no equipment but if Levi can fight titans with no funding then I can run a blog
