The rightâs obsession with fictional characters being a certain way is weird. Like, they honestly think its an extreme political statement if a protagonist doesnât meet all the criteria: straight, white, male, or if thereâs more than one supporting character who doesnât meet all those checks.
They call people who write women, blacks, and homosexuals extreme, but Iâve never seen anyone who actually cares about a characterâs skin color as much as they do.
And if a writer is trying to give black people, female people, and LGBTQ people a hero they can relate to, so what? If they are trying to make a hero from a social minority, why does it matter? As long as the story and plot are good and well-written, why do they care so much about black lesbian characters?
Why do they have this weird fixation with straight white men?
