I know that feel. My head instructor, the person who taught me to make fist, left one day without a word. And in his place stayed his two assistants. I could tell that they were pretty rattled by the whole thing but they did their best. I'm still not pleased with him for leaving all of us though. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I love how divided the fan base is over Terra. She was in the show for  SIX episodes out of 514 and got more of a rise out of the fandom than anything else in all five seasons. Regardless of whether or not you like her, you have to admit that her arc/character was the most interesting and the most developed, even moreso than any of the five original Titans. You gotta respect that.

I don't think she was particularly interesting or well-developed, but that's partially because she wasn't a permanent member and there just wasn't time to flesh out a storyline.

As far as interesting, she kind of struck me as a bratty, insecure tween, end of story. I knew that the reason she had such an attitude was that she was homeless and had no clue about social graces, but I didn't find her back story or mannerisms to be all that compelling. 

I will say that it was neat to see someone actually betray the Titans and take great relish in doing so, but then she half-assed that like she did everything else and was all "J/k, j/k". (It is a kid's show, I realize they're not going to have an unrepentant traitor to the team unless that person was a villain from the get-go.)

So she was there and gone in a flash. No time to really develop her character. We got to see the inside of Raven's mind. We got to see her (and the others!) before the Teen Titans were even a thing. We saw how she acted on what she thought was her very last day alive. We met Starfire's sister, saw her origin story of coming to Earth, and visited her home planet. We saw every emotion she ever had, from rage to jealousy to happiness, and she and Raven both explicitly explained the source of their powers in great detail.

With Terra, we got nothing. No backstory other than "The Earth is my home!11!" (Read: "I'm a hobo.") They cut to black when she was with Slade (inspiring tons of speculative Slerra drabbles) and she decided to be "good" again when Slade Chris Browned her.  Not hating on Terra, and again, I think it was cool to see someone who wasn't unyieldingly good like the rest of them, but I don't think she was the most interesting or well-developed character on the show.

I have a theory. In the comics, I think the HIVE hired his son Grant to kill the Titans or something, and Grant died. We know that Slade's other son, Joey, was shown in the cartoon show...so maybe he blamed the Titans for all of his problems. He could have been stringing them out on purpose, because mental torture is WAY worse than just killing them. Think about it: he got one and a half (Robin doesn't count) members to betray them. He made them run around on wild goose chases all the damn time, looking for fake bombs and computer chips and whatever the hell else he wanted. And I mean, how panicked would you be if someone basically said that they wanted to take over the whole world? He didn't even necessarily have to mean it. It would have been scary as hell if you were the Titans. Another theory is that the HIVE contract, by its terms, only called for mental anguish and not straight-up death. Because....idk, it's the HIVE. A third sub-theory is that as soon as Slade died he was free from the contract. So he was like "FUCK THIS SHIT. SLADE OUT" and left. Not that he would tell the Titans that, of course. 

When I was younger, this is how I wrote Slade in my fanfictions. Because I liked the idea of him being somewhat sane, rather than a masked villain with the vague, amorphous goal of taking over Jump City.  And for fuck's sake, Slade, if you really wanted to kill the Titans you should have taken your little robots off of "stun" mode.

People like her for the same reason they hate her, and for the same reason that she stands out: she’s human. She’s the Everygirl, someone to live vicariously through. Watching her be in awe over being famous is like getting to be suddenly thrust into the limelight yourself. Sure, people like actresses like Anne Hathaway and Emma Watson but they’re so precise, so composed, that sometimes it seems like every move they make is part of a well-tuned, finely calibrated machine. These polished, poised girls always know what to say and how to be politically correct even if it seems like they’re being candid, but there’s always a constant wonder in the back of your mind: “What are they really thinking?” With Jen you never have to guess. She’s the media’s darling for that very reason. The only things that keep her from being a circus sideshow, someone to laugh at instead of with, are her beauty and acting chops.

Way to miss the point. I never said she had to be perfect. Its okay to fuck up sometimes. We all do. But when you mess up and say things that perpetuate harmful stereotypes and ideals you deserve to be called out for it regardless of who you are. That’s not to be hateful or attack her in anyway. It’s just to let her know that certain things just aren’t okay to say and she can work on not doing it again and being respectful to all people. She doesn’t seem like a malicious type so I’d hope that she’d take it seriously. Your Anne Hathaway’s and Emma Watson’s are just educated on certain matters so its less likely to see them spout crap. I do enjoy their sense of humor and the fact that they do seem knowledgeable about issues. I don’t expect that from everyone but its refreshing to seem it. I like it when people that care enough to educate themselves on the world around them. I don’t care about her being awestruck by anyone or the media’s sweetheart because I’m not invested in her but if she flubs, let her know that’s not cool and move on. No one is asking her to become a scholar or change her sense of humor just be more aware of how somethings are rude to say.

I didn't really see a coherent thesis statement so I wasn't sure there was a point, exactly. I'm forced to infer that either "I do, however, hate the way that many fans and the media treat her like a special snowflake" or "the “whatevs!1!” attitude she seemed to had when she was told how her OCD comments weren’t okay did not sit well with me" were my two choices. All I was trying to do was form a personal theory as to why the media treats her like a special snowflake even when (sometimes because!) of the fact that she can be candid to the point of offense. And I don't think that Anne Hathaway and Emma Watson are necessarily more educated about all these issues, but they're definitely better about keeping their mouths closed and being politically correct. They know that they shouldn't comment on things that they don't know about.

 I think he's misunderstood by lots of people. There's Thor, who's all "COME HOME AND EVERYTHING WILL BE SUNSHINE AND ROSES, BRAUGH". Then there's the fangirls, who all think that Loki could just be cured of his daddy issues/hate/whatever ails him if he'd just give them the D. Then there's the rest of his family, who seems pretty puzzled over why he'd be a self-hating Frost Giant, even when Frost Giants are apparently the stuff of monster stories. And I think that Odin didn't really see Loki's fears about Thor being a war-mongering douche nozzle until the first movie, which ate Loki up inside. Not that Loki did a terrific job expressing those fears, from what I can see. So yeah. I think he's misunderstood but I don't think it's an excuse and I think that a lot of it is on him not being able to express himself. Plus, I think that being misunderstood is all part of his angle. You can't have self-pity and loathing that feeds on itself if people understand you, if you express yourself perfectly, because then you can't hold on to the "They don't know me, I'm so misunderstood" card.

How does the Shred Diet work? Like what do you have to do? I'm obese and really want to lose weight so I can be healthier and this seems like it's really working!

Okay this is a GREAT diet, and that's coming from someone who has a biology degree and has always been like "diets don't work." In three weeks I have lost 13.6 pounds and (this is most important, I don't care what I lose if I'm not going to lose fat) my percentage of body fat is down by 3.2%. The whole premise of the diet is this: small, frequent food intake. You're eating 4 "meals" a day with 3-4 "snacks" in between and you follow the guidelines laid out for six weeks. If you still haven't lost the weight you want to lose by the sixth week, then you pick the week where you lost the most weight and do that week again. I'm on week 4 and my day looked like this:Meal 1: 1 cup of water with 1/2 lemon's juice in it, 1 cup of carrot juice, 1/2 cup of blueberries  and 1 cup of oatmeal.Snack 1 (100 cals or less): 1 c. applesauce and one stick string cheeseMeal 2: 1 protein shake, 1 kiwiSnack 2: (150 cals or less): 2 slices Arnold's bread, 31 g. homemade guacamoleMeal 3: 1 bowl chicken noodle soupSnack 3(100 cals or less): 1 Dark Chocolate Hershey's Kiss, 1 stick string cheese, 1 pickle spearMeal 4: 5-oz. piece of salmon, 1/2 cup brown rice, 3 oz. carrots There are some rules, like you have to consume 1 cup of water before and 1 cup of water during each meal, but they're pretty easy to follow. And a lot of the time you have options-like for breakfast I could pick 1 piece of fruit or 1/2 c. of berries, and then I had the choice between oatmeal, grits, and Cream of Wheat. Every week the soup/protein shake guidelines change as well. Your first week they have to be 300 cals or less, second is 250 cals, and third and fourth are 200 cals. (I haven't gotten to the fifth and sixth weeks yet so idk about them.) Anyway, I'll stop rambling. I just can't recommend this diet enough. :)

Gina Carano plays a private security contractor. That's a soldier/bodyguard who doesn't work for the government. Ewan McGregor was her boss/boyfriend. He was the one who went up to government guys and said "Hey, if you have some shady stuff you can't "officially" send people to do, you should use my company and my people." But Gina knew that the only reason they used Ewan's company was because she was so talented, and she didn't want him telling her what jobs to do and ordering her around and such, so she broke up with him and decided to leave his company. If she works solo, he wouldn't get a cut of the money. And so he got pissed and tried to kill her because she would take all of his clients, be they government types, wealthy people who needed bodyguards, etc.

Shred Diet Week 2 Day 1

Shred Diet Week 1 Day 3

Okay, I admit it. I looked at the scale. You're not supposed to until the end of the first week, but I'll admit that I had my doubts about the program. Dr. Ian Smith says that you can lose up to ten pounds the first week. Not being the credulous sort, I decided to weigh myself today. I've been eating SO MUCH FOOD (even though it's good stuff) that I was sure I'd gained weight.

I've lost 3.4 pounds. In two days. Yay. :D But I still feel like there has to be a catch, like it's water weight or something. Or if I start eating "normally" (not unhealthily, just eating foods not on the diet plan) that I'll gain it back. But I still have five and a half weeks to go.

I will say that this doesn't feel like a "diet" in the sense that I'm hungry. I'm hardly ever truly "hungry", but I suppose that's what he's driving at. You're never supposed to let your blood sugar get so low that you feel like a bottomless pit. I know that in theory but obviously I haven't done a good job of following through until now. Current Weight: 198.6 Current Body Fat Percentage: 34.4

The Shred Diet

Starting the Shred Diet today. All of my meals have been spaced abnormally closely together because I didn't wake up until 10 a.m. and I'm planning on going to bed at 11 tonight, but that doesn't matter. 

I like this diet. Because it isn't a diet, not really. It's just small portions, eating every 3-4 hours, and common sense. I'm still not telling anyone though. When you mention that you're on a diet you either get the facetious "You don't need to lose weight!" comment or you endure much squawking about how "diets don't work!" I was a biology   major. I can paint you a picture of the processes your metabolism goes through. I know diets don't work. But I'm willing to try a lifestyle change. 

I haven't been hungry at all today, which is interesting for me. I'm usually either stuffed or starving, but it's time to change.

Starting Weight: 202.6 Body Fat Percentage: 35.6
