part one: Hufflepuff Christmas!

cozy evenings spent with friends and family, laughing and enjoying each other's company. baking sweets and drinking hot chocolate by the fireplace.

carer that makes sure their kiddo is well rested and helps them get ready for naps! pulling their baby into their lap as they rub their back, trying to get them to relax. "come on sweetheart, you might not want to, but little things like you need sleep. I know you want to play, but it's important to rest your body. So how about you close those pretty eyes for me and try to sleep a bit more. after you wake up from your nap we'll have lunch and I pinky promise we can play whatever you want, does that sound good munchkin?"

carer waking up and coming into the living room, noticing their kiddo is small. "good morning honey, can you show me how old you are with your fingers?" they asked as they came to pick them up. "would my angel like to help me make breakfast after we get you out of your pajamas? we can make pancakes in whatever shape you want." they added while carrying them back to the bedroom to help them pick out an outfit. "would you like to bring a couple of your plushies with you to breakfast? they can have little pancakes too."

carer staying up late playing video games when they hear their kiddo wake up, stumbling over to them with their blanket wrapped around them. "come here kiddo, why don't you sit on my lap while i finish this last round? I'd love for you to watch me play or hold you while you fall asleep." the carer says as they pat their lap, inviting them to sit down so they can keep them company. "you can go back to sleep, I'll be sure to watch over you. I'll carry you back to bed and tuck you in when I finish, does that sound alright, sweet pea?"

noticing their kiddo seems socially drained after being out all day, the carer gave their hand a gentle, reassuring squeeze before helping their baby remove their shoes, then gently easing them down so their head rests in their lap. they cover them with the blanket, tucking them in. "close your eyes and rest. I'll be right here watching over you." the carer says as they start running their fingers through their angel's hair, humming softly as they try helping them fall asleep. "Don't worry about a thing, I'll take care of you while you rest."

"Hey, it's okay. You don't have to apologize for having a bad day. I know you've been dealing with a lot lately, and it's completely understandable to feel exhausted and overwhelmed. Just take your time, lovey, I'm here for you. Can I do anything to help? Maybe get you some water? I'll even run a bubble bath for you if you'd like. I don't like seeing you like this and I promise I'll do my best to help you, even if it's just holding your hand. you don't have to talk about it if it's too much right now, I'm happy to hold you for as long as you need."

carer teaching their kiddo how to play their favorite game, helping them through the tutorial and showing them the basic controls. being able to protect them from the enemy teams and telling them how well they're doing and how proud they are when they start to get the hang of the controls. getting to watch the way their angel's eyes light up with excitement when they start to get the hang of the game after practicing. having game nights with their sweet kiddo, cuddling and eating yummy snacks together while they play.

please remember that caregivers are people too and we have bad mental health days! we deserve breaks and reassurance just as much as regressors do. caregivers are not robots and won't always be available to be in caregiver space for you all the time, some of us may even need time to regress as well. if you are a caregiver, please remember to care for and love yourself too. you're doing an amazing job and I'm very proud of you for accomplishing so much, be sure to take time for yourself and do the things you love!

carer that makes sure you're taking care of yourself! reminding you to take your medicine and drink plenty of water throughout the day, cutting your food into cute shapes and putting on your favorite movie to help make eating easier on bad days. keeping comfort items in a bag in case you need it when out and about, always wanting to make sure their baby is well taken care of. designating certain days during the week to have a self-care day with their kiddo, wanting nothing but the best for their precious angel.

taking my kiddo to a theme park and watching as their eyes light up when they see all of the fun rides, listening to them ramble about all the fun we're going to have! holding their hand so that they don't get lost as we move to different rides and concession stands. keeping a backpack with a couple of items for them on hand! having one of their comfort stuffies, water bottles, a few snacks and noise cancelling headphones just in case they get overwhelmed. carrying them to bed if they fall asleep on the car ride back home.
