I think Christians put entirely too much emphasis on and overthink the whole "husband as head of the household" thing. It's a reflection of practicality within a relationship rather than this complex, legalistic game of submission that it gets made into.
I'm gonna let y'all in on a secret: in a healthy Christian marriage, it is not something you think about very much. My husband greatly values my perspective and counsel, and so it never feels like he's the decision maker - we both are.
That’s because it’s a massive oversimplification of biblical marriage.
“Wives, submit to your husbands” is not complete without “husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
As in, love sacrificially. As in, put her needs first. It’s not a coincidence that the passage for husbands is a good deal longer than the passage for wives, and trad folks would do well to read the whole thing.
Like you said, submission shouldn’t be something you think about much, because it doesn’t feel much like submission when the other person genuinely wants what’s best for you because they love you as themselves.
Let’s say a prayer for all those who are considering becoming Christian who are scared.
Be that because of fear of exclusion by friends or family, fear because they live in a country where Christianity is persecuted or where the majority religion is something else, worries about making the ‘wrong’ decision, anxieties about fitting in, being overwhelmed by trying to read the Bible for the first time or praying for the first time, anxieties about attending Church for the first time, feeling overwhelmed at all the things they fear they might have to leave behind. Whatever the reason/s that are holding them back, let’s pray for them.
Ok so here's something that drives me crazy about the current AI situation at my job:
So workers putting sensitive information into an AI is considered a data protection breach. My feeling is that the actual risk here is pretty small but present.
I feel like we SHOULD be able to just disable Copilot across everyone's work computers and say anyone caught giving company data to any external AI service will be disciplined. At the very least I think we ought to be able to configure everyone's Copilot to be opted out of being used for training data with no option to opt back in?? These seem like pretty reasonable steps a company should be able to take to protect it's data??
But seemingly?? No?? Microsoft just put 'steals Ur data' machine on everyone's computers and all we can do is be like 'guys everyone prommy not to put any personal information into the steals your data machine'.
It's just insane. I don't know how they're getting away with this.

Do not work on your days off.

DO NOT WORK ON YOUR DAYS OFF.
Do not work on your breaks
Do not “answer a few emails” on your vacation
Do not work off the clock
Doing this doesn’t reward you with more money or whatever. It rewards you with more work.

i see posts here about how people are so mortified when they are acknowledged as being a regular customer somewhere that they never return. cowards. the employees at taco bell treat me like a celebrity. like royalty. i am their strange little pet customer who gets traded along as staff comes and goes. they know my car before i even speak in the drive-thru speaker. today i was 2 hours late and she ran over and squealed that she "thought i'd left them!" and that she "made my order with extra love!" and you what, she did
it's funny that this is getting notes again, because last night i went to the thai place in my neighborhood. it's run by a family and during covid times i ate there literally almost every day. later i cut back on eating out so much and hadn't been there in two years but last night we went and ate inside for the first time ever and the owner ran over to say hello and ask how i was, and repeated our old regular order. it was sweet. it's so easy to feel like you are an island, but stuff like this reminds you that you are part of a community.
Being a regular is fucking awesome. I've only had that status a few times, but I always feel kind of honored. These people see humans all day every day, and they remembered me?! And not for something bad (as far as I can tell)! I'm flattered af!
