Music of the Night – Maha & Oz- November 2nd, evening
Oz simply listened intently as she spoke. It didn’t much matter to him why the Hunters had come. The fact was they came; and since they didn’t get what they were after, or their ‘bonus’, they were sure to come again. What mattered was if Maha was going to help or hinder the Fae of DC when they did. “Oh don’t worry, I’m sure the Council will keep that idea in their back pocket.” Oz didn’t necessarily like the idea of handing her over to be killed. It was clear she was skilled in combat and could be of real use. “No we’re not all monsters” he said flatly and took a drink of beer. He perked up slightly when he brought up her friend that everyone seemed interested in. It was clear from what Oz had heard that she was more than just another mere human; but he’d rather hear it from someone who was close to the young woman. “If you feel it is your duty to protect her I won’t stop you,” he raised his hands. “You seem to pretty much know how we operate and she’ll need that in the time to come. Should you ever feel it necessary you are welcome to come to me with questions or for help. I’ll try to assist you if I can.” Oz figured the best way for him to get her to be helpful was if he at least tried to be in return. “And to start off that generosity I suppose I should buy the next round of drinks.”
Maha was content that the detective seemed to believe her and also seemed to be willing to work with her opposed to stonewall her just because of her past. “I am aware that I’m just alive because the council lets me, I don’t have any illusions about that. But I hope that in time they and you will realize that I’m no threat to the Fae anymore, at least as long as I’m not threatened. I hope that they are able to get past the image of hunter like I was able to get past the image of Fae. I know I will have to prove myself. And I will. I already offered my full cooperation on everything I know about hunters. Sadly or luckily I don’t know where they are right now. There were eight hunters in DC on the carnival, from different families. Which leads me to believe that there are lot more outside of the city somewhere. Usually when a few groups band together like that there’s something big going on. So they probably suspect that besides Robyn there are at least a few Fae in the city.” She took a drink from her beer and nodded at him at his offer of assistance. “I will keep that in mind; I just hope it won’t be necessary because the moment I will need help shit is going down. Like at the Carnival. Thanks by the way. I would probably be dead now if the three of you had not come to help.” She raised her glass towards him and emptied it. “To overcoming age old prejudices and unusual allies.”
Business Never Pleasure ♕ Freya & Maha (Thurs. Night Sept 25th)
A shiver ran down her spine as Maha’s breath hit her ear and she hummed upon hearing her words. It wasn’t often she met someone willing to play the game. Then again, she wasn’t always so forward, but she had a feeling the Hunter would be all for it. It seemed she was right. Too bad the Elf couldn’t take her somewhere now. Freya never liked waiting. Trying to find time in the future was going to be an issue, but at least the seed was planted, and for this one she would find the time. Getting information out of her was of course the most important, but it didn’t mean she couldn’t also have a good time. The Queen smiled and grabbed the napkin, keeping her hand on the other while she looked at what had been written. Her grin turned to into something dangerous when she noticed there wasn’t a name attached to the number. “And what am I supposed to call you, Miss mysterious and exotic woman who works at U Street? Or do I actually get the pleasure of knowing who you are since you already know who I am?” Of course she already knew who Maha was, but she couldn’t tell the Human that. She leaned in towards the woman again, this time her words floating into the other’s ear. “When I call and you come over and you’re making me scream, who’s name am I supposed to be yelling out for more and harder and faster?” There was no point in backing down now and she was really starting to enjoy herself.
Maha grinned back at the woman, pondering for a moment if she should tell the woman her name or not. In the end she decided against it, just to continue their game some more. “Well Miss Stenberg that would be way too easy would it not?” she answered playfully. It would be easy for the politician to find out her name if she really wanted to. “I’m sure you have your ways to find out my name.” She leaned into the other woman’s personal space again. “And in case you don’t ‘Oh God’ will be just fine,” she grinned. “But … you know where I work so I don’t see you having any troubles to find out. You can call me when you know,” she added with a wink and got up from her stool. “But now I have to get back to work as much as I would like to continue our little … conversation.” Not letting go of the other woman’s hand she brought it to her lips and blew a kiss onto her knuckles. “Enjoy your evening at U Street Ms. Stenberg. It was a pleasure meeting you.”
Music of the Night – Maha & Oz- November 2nd, evening
“There is a reason, yes” he informed her. There were quite a few actually but he wasn’t going to divulge Council information; and he just felt like being withholding. Oz let out a small chuckle. “You may have gotten some of the slower one’s but I’m pretty sure I’d still be standing. You’re not wrong though. We don’t usually kill without reason; but I would say your people coming into our city and scaring our citizens was reason enough. And even if you had hunted in DC it wouldn’t have gone unnoticed and you would have been dealt with long ago.” The bartender brought over Oz’s beer, also the two the Huntress had signaled for, and he took a few swigs. He nodded at her. “Yeah it probably does, but they’re wary; and they have every right to be. We don’t know enough about you not to be. What did you tell them when they talked to you after the Carnival?” Oz normally would have privy to that information but since he was on the outs with the Council lately they hadn’t told him much. The only things he knew about her was what he had gotten out of her when they had lunch; but he doubted hardly any of that was the truth.
Sighing she turned fully towards him and looked at him seriously. “They’re not ‘my people’ anymore. They were not here for me but running into me was quite the bonus for them. They hate me more than they hate any of you. To them I’m a traitor because I left. So if you want to get rid of me you just need to point them in my direction, they will kill me for you. With the added bonus that I might be able to take some of them with me.” Taking a drink from her beer she sighed. “I admit I was just like them. I believed that we were doing the right thing and I still think that most of my kills were necessary. But I realized that it’s not as black and white as I was taught that not all Fae are monsters. I came here to find out the truth for myself. And I did. I came across Robyn and knew she was in danger. I made it my task to protect her, to do something right for a change and protect someone truly innocent in all this. We became friends and never knew the real reason.” After the fight at the bar she had noticed that the detective seemed to be in charge of the shifters, giving out orders that were followed; even by Magda. He had to be the pack leader if Magda complied like that. So convincing him that she was no danger to them but rather an useful ally was important. “I told them the truth and the same I’m telling you now. I’m done hunting but I will protect Robyn at all costs. If I thought it would keep her save I’ll let you kill me right now but I think I’m more useful to her and you alive.”
Music of the Night – Maha & Robyn- November 2nd, evening
After her trip home, that offered little results, Robyn had spent most of her time working on the latest issue of her comic. She was still wary on if she should send it in to be printed or if she would inform her publisher that she was done with FaeryTales. When she got the text from Maha informing her that she had the night off and would be going out; Robyn too felt the need to get out and stretch her legs and her liver. In the process of washing away weeks of not leaving her apartment she had completely forgotten to text Maha back. So when she walked into Solly’s, which she was a little wary of since her last conversation with Petre, she found Maha being harassed by a rather ugly and balding man. “Take a hike pal,” she signaled the guy with her thumb to vacate the stool next to her friend and then sat down when he left grumbling. Robyn took Maha’s shot of tequila and threw it back. “Whoo. Sorry I forgot to text you back.”
The guy that was staring at her was already past a little drunk and he was rather ugly. Usually she wouldn’t worry but she was aware that there were a few shifters in the room and she didn’t want to start something. So her answer to his offer to buy her a drink and go somewhere more private was unusually polite and not at all what she wanted to say. “No, thank you. I’m waiting for someone,” she lied easily. But as usual with guys like him he wasn’t easily discouraged and continued to talk to her. Lucky for him, or her, he had the good sense not to touch her though. She was quite surprised when he left all of a sudden; she had been focused to keep het cool and had not seen Robyn come in. A wide smile spread across her face when she saw her friend claim the stool beside her and steal her drink. “I’m glad you came,” she said quietly. “How are you?”
Music of the Night – Maha & Oz- November 2nd, evening
The Halloween Ball was all in all a good night. Many different species of Fae were in attendance and the whole thing seemed to go off without a hitch. But now it was back to the real world and Oz wanted to check up on Shifter and pack business now that Halloween was over and the full moon was only a few days away. The best place to do that of course was Solly’s. He nearly stopped in his tracks with surprise as he walked in the door and saw the Huntress cozied up to the bar. With her there he doubted he would get any info from the other Shifters in the place; but he was already there so he might as well have a few beers. “You know most people in your position would say, ‘Hey Oz thanks for not killing me and my friend even though you totally could have’,” he grinned as he walked up and ordered a beer for himself. He was actually happy that she was there because he had been meaning to talk to her. However he was happier with himself, for his gut instinct about her had been right; and Oz loved being right.
Maha smirked back at him at his comment. “Oh it’s you,” she said before turning back towards her beer. She had been fully prepared to die as soon as someone really found out about her, it had been what she expected. She had been expecting that Ray would kill her a few weeks back, and later at the carnival she had expected Magda or this Jari guy who interrogated her to kill her once they had all the info they needed. She could only assume that they still had plans for her, because that was the only reason she could see why she was in fact still alive. “Well I guess there’s a reason I’m still alive, but thanks anyway Detective. And by the way I didn’t kill anyone of you either although I could have for years now,” she said turning back towards him. “But I don’t kill without a reason and I got the impression neither do you.” She emptied her beer and mentioned to the bartender for two more for them. “You should tell your people to stop acting queasy around me. It’s really suspicious if someone crosses the street just to avoid me.” A lot of people had been acting weird around her lately and that alone had uncovered a whole bunch of Fae to her.
Music of the Night – Maha & Eva- November 2nd, evening
It had been a long weekend. One that she had been hoping to enjoy and in some ways she had, but not in the way she had expected. The grand ball turned into a horror show and all she wanted to do was dress up and dance with Paul in the Queen’s mansion. He took her home and stayed with her, the first time she’d ever asked him to do so, and it was for the very last reason she had ever wanted it to be. When the nightmares came, he was there, but they both had work the next day and as usual, their time together was spoiled with the reality of the lives they lived. By Sunday night she exhausted. The store had been flooded with people needing supplies for spells or cures for magical mishaps. As soon as she was able, she left the store and went to Solly’s hoping to see Paul or Lu, although she wondered if Paul had chosen a new place to drink after everything with Lu. Taking a seat at the bar, she didn’t see either man. Her eyes did however fall on someone rather unexpected and she hadn’t noticed she was staring until the woman addressed her. “Oh, I’m sorry…I just…um…how’s your shoulder?” She asked forcing a smile. The Elf was still uncomfortable engaging with the Hunter despite the assurances of others, but she had no choice now.
Turning towards the voice she at once felt bad for her rather harsh tone when she realized who was looking at her. The healer had not trusted her from the beginning, antagonizing her now would only make things worse. “Oh, I’m sorry. I thought you were some guy trying to hit on me. My apologies,” she said sincerely and even managed to smile at the woman. “My shoulder is pretty good actually. It healed without complications. Thank you again for patching me up,” she said taking another drink from her beer. “Can I buy you a drink? As a thank you. You can even take it and go sit somewhere else. I know I make you uncomfortable,” she added quietly. She made it a point to have her hands visible on top of the bar, holding her beer, her whole body relaxed and open so the other woman would not feel threatened. Sure she would fight everyone who threatened her or Robyn and didn’t really care if the Fae liked her, but she wouldn’t be the one to start shit; especially not with some healer type who was more scared of her than anything else.
Music of the Night – Maha & open- November 2nd, evening
Since she had come back from her impromptu trip with Robyn Maha had pretty much worked every night to make up for the days she had missed. Of course she had informed Ray as soon as possible and he had been okay with her missing a few days, especially since it was to keep an eye on Robyn. Still Maha felt the need to make up for it, especially since Ray had been so cool about it. Tonight was her first night off though since it was a pretty slow night. Her relationship with Robyn was still not back to normal, but they were getting there. She had send Robyn a text where she was going in case she wanted to join her but was fully prepared to spend the night alone; or at least start it alone. She needed a drink and some dancing to let some steam off. She didn’t want to go anywhere where she usually worked and thus she ended up at Solly’s to start the night with a few drinks. Sitting down at the bar she ordered a beer and a tequila before turning to her right from where she felt someone watching her. “What?” she asked. “Never seen a woman before?”
text @ Robyn
Maha: I have tonight off
Maha: I will be at Solly's and later Black Cat I guess
Maha: in case you want to join me.
The only thing I was good at was killing people, but I’m workin’ on it.
Sticks & Stones {Lu & Maha}Sept. 26th Morning
Lu surprisingly managed to contain his eye roll when the hunter mentioned putting a slug though his chest. He hadn’t made two centuries by being bested by a human hunter. If Maha had chosen to draw a gun at this point he’d have her head severed from her spinal cord before it left the hoister. However, he would never make such a threatening remark because there was no point to scare or intimidate her, and besides it would be rude. Instead he drew his chin to his chest as the dark haired woman carried on becoming more defensive working herself up into a tizzy. Waiting till he assumed she was done he exhaled before her countered. “Why don’t you settle down? You act as if I’m going to hold her hostage interrogating her to the point where she loses her mind. By the way I’m doing my best not to be insulted right now because I would never harm an innocent. I understand your concern, but I only want to ask questions, and if she requested that I leave her alone I would do as she wishes, and wouldn’t force myself on Robyn. I only want to engage her in a conversation.” His eyes held the disdain he felt for Maha and her insistence that he wish to harm the human as they squinted. “For the record I have picked up the comics, but it doesn’t expressively discuss her gift. I’m not willing to rule her out just because she doesn’t have a complete understanding of the context of what she has seen, and I don’t need to divulge any secrets for her to tell me of her experiences. I can put them in the proper context myself. I’m sure you’re quite studied up on the fae, and know that we have species which similar talents who in turn could actually help her. I appreciate your sentiment and it’s obvious she means a lot to you so you’re just going to have to trust I would never harm her emotionally or physically. However, I very much will walk up to her in a public setting much like this and reintroduce myself seeing as our first meeting occurred the night of the carnival because I could imagine she would appreciate me showing up at her door knocking.” Lu periodically watched the woman who weaved from one display to the next the entire time making ready to move his and Maha’s conversation again if needed.
When she shifter told her to calm down she realized that she had indeed worked herself up way too much. She usually didn’t become this agitated or emotional; it was one of her strength to keep her cool at all times, but her worry for Robyn was putting more strain on her than she would have thought herself. Taking a deep breath she smiled a bit goofily at the taller man. “Sorry. I’m just worried for her. She’s … my pack and I will protect her like you would protect yours. That’s all I’m saying. I’m not so stupid to think I could even go for my gun before you’d kill me, I just … you, all of you need to know that she’s under my protection. And I’m not so stupid to look for a face to face confrontation,” she said more calmly now. So far no one had made a move towards Robyn, neither hunters nor Fae. “We were already interrogated and I understand that this was necessary and really all of you can interrogate me all you want. I just want for Robyn to have some time to settle back down. Dealing with her nightmares wasn’t easy before, but now … I cannot even imagine. You might not want or intent to hurt her, but you still might.” She knew he would not listen to her, that he was certain just talking to Robyn couldn’t probably do any harm, but Maha knew Robyn and she had never seen her like this. But she also knew that she couldn’t stop him, why would he listen to a human when he was older and wiser and had already seen it all? She scoffed lightly, more to herself than at him. “Just remember my words. If you hurt her, intentional or not, I will come for you and you won’t see me coming.” With that she turned on the spot and left the shop, not bothering to look back or protect her back in any way. She didn’t care if all the Fae in the city hated her, but she would protect Robyn no matter what.
What do you think of trick-or-treating?
I was raised learning that Halloween was a day were Fae were pretty strong. I never went trick or treating since we were always hunting that day. The modern Halloween is bullshit.
Business Never Pleasure ♕ Freya & Maha (Thurs. Night Sept 25th)
The papers. Well that explained it. Maha knew her as Freya Stenberg, DC’s “Congresswoman”, if you could call her that. She wasn’t really, just the District’s Delegate to the House. However, that was a much as the capital city was allowed unfortunately. At least the former Hunter was unaware of her status of Queen. It made her original plan that much easier. “Well I’m no one special dear,” she teased, “it’s not like my face is always plastered in the press. You’re probably one of a handful of people who recognizes me for my position to be honest. They might know the name, but not the face,” she winked playfully back at the Human. “If you get the drink right, there won’t be a maybe about it. I’ll just have to make time for you. There won’t be a choice in the matter.” She smiled at the bartender as he approached and then turned back to Maha, “Oh I’m sure I can think of something.” The Elf watched him, curious to determine the concoction he was creating and when the champagne came out she laughed. “Well damn. I was actually hoping you’d fail because, let’s be honest, one way or another you’re going to end up in my bed. It just would have been that much more pleasing if you owed me one.” Just then her drink arrived and she gladly took a sip. “Mmm… delicious, but I bet you taste better,” Freya purred running her foot across Maha’s leg for a moment. She couldn’t help herself, she was having far too much fun toying with the woman.
Maha wasn’t quite sure that it would actually happen; someone like Ms. Stenberg probably rarely had free time to waste on a simple hook up with a random bouncer; someone like her could have anyone. But the playful banter was nice, it was a boost for her ego for sure that someone like the hot politician was showing an interest in her. She might have decided to go home early and spent the night with the sexy blonde, but as it were she owed Ray, they had a deal, and Maha would not go back on her word just for a meaningless night of sex. That didn’t mean she couldn’t spare a few more minutes and leave an impression that would make it more likely that the other woman would indeed seek her out again in the future; and it seemed she had made a good start with her choice of drink. If the other women wanted to make her blush or uncomfortable with her comment she was failing and Maha only grinned back at her. “I heard I taste like I look,” she said leaning into the other woman’s personal space, whispering into her ear. “Mysterious and exotic. I think that’s exaggerating things, but you should find out for yourself.” Grabbing a napkin she jotted down her number without adding her name though, if she really wanted to call her she would know. She also was aware that someone of Ms. Stenberg’s sttus couldn’t hand out her number to random people. Handing the napkin over she grinned. “Give me a call when you have some free time to kill.”
Skipping Town |Robyn & Maha| Oct. 1st
Robyn unlocked the car and when Maha was done giving her attention, she put her inside as Maha spoke. She gave the dog a rub on the head and then turned to find Maha had stepped even closer to her after she had finished talking. “You’re right, I don’t want to talk to you” she agreed but decided not to step away just yet, “but it doesn’t mean that I hate you Maha…it just means that I need space. As for someone looking out for me I’m pretty capable of doing that myself.” She did as Maha suggested and thought about home. It wasn’t lost on her that if people were after her they could follow her there, but the urge to be with her family at this time was overwhelming her reasoning skills. “Of course I don’t want anything to happen to them, but if there is the slightest chance that nothing would go down then of course I want to take it. They’re my family Maha. They’re all I have anymore. How can you say I’m safer here than anywhere else, when it seemed all too easy for those people to find me here in the first place.” Her tone was starting highten with frustration so she made an effort to calm herself down. “I’m going. Whether or not you come with me is up to you.”
Maha’s first instinct was to protest; Robyn was fairly capable of taking care of herself in the “normal” life, although she tended to forget to eat and lost track of time sometimes, but she was in no way prepared to deal with a bunch of hunters or Fae. There was no way to talk herself out of being taken and they wouldn’t believe her that she wasn’t a witch. And even if they had doubts they would still kill her just to be safe; after “questioning” her for answers of course. Albeit Maha could sense that arguing with Robyn would accomplish nothing right now. “They would have found you anywhere. They’ve probably been looking for you for a while; your comic is pretty accurate. If they had found you somewhere else they would have you now and I would most likely be dead, but here, there’s people willing to help; we are still alive after all.” It still seemed that Robyn was adamant to go and of course Maha would not let her go alone. Even if Robyn truly hated her she would have followed her, in secret if necessary, but since Robyn admitted she just needed space Maha thought the open approach would be the better choice. She was endlessly relieved that Robyn didn’t hate her and things hopefully would go back to normal between them. “Since I can’t talk you out of it I will come with you. I’m not letting you go alone; but I will take my own car. Everything I need is already in there so we can get going right away. Can I ask a favor though? Can I hug you, please?”
Sticks & Stones {Lu & Maha}Sept. 26th Morning
It was evident that the two of them were sizing each other up as the conversation continued. There seemed to be a mental tango taking place between them, and from what he could tell she was a good read of people which left him feeling somewhat comfortable. When she spoke about Robyn he could tell she cared deeply for the artist so much so their simple back and forth became slightly stressed when she became center of conversation. Lu eyed the customer who still bumbled about in the back of the store before attempting to answer her question and settle her mind. “Look you don’t need to become defensive. I wish her no harm. You only have to speak to Ray or Magda on my character. I only have questions that have no concern over what happened at the Carnival. Rather you care for it, or not I would like to speak to her. I had a discussion a couple of days ago with Petre Dalca.” He paused for a moment unsure if he should show his hand, bur figured even though the two women were at odds at the moment it could work in his benefit down the road. Still leaning on the shelf he raked his hand through his hair and gave a soft smile and decided to take the chance. “Apparently she was able to depict a Shifter attack that took place several months back with a peculiar accuracy. Anything that affects my family the wolf pack affects me. I’d be doing them a disservice if I didn’t make an inquiry. I simply need to know if she had any other Shifter or Fae related visions.”
“Oh I believe you,” she said calmly. “If I thought you wanted to do her harm you’d have a silver bullet in your heart by now.” She wasn’t trying to threaten him, she was just stating facts; anyone who would so much as try to hurt Robyn would have go through her. “But she is really freaking out about all of this and questions, no matter how harmless you think they are, might only stress her out more. All I ask you is to wait until she has come to terms with the situation. I’m sure she will be glad to help once she made her peace with it all.” Luckily for them the customer didn’t seem to be interested in books at all, but was looking at the pretty jewelry near the counter, that wasn’t really jewelry at all. “Yes, I remember that drawing. Robyn only realized that she had drawn something that had really happened later and then she thought she had heard it on the news and in her dreams she had made a werewolf attack out of it. She has nightmares, regularly, and sometimes they depict something that really happened. If you want to know more about that you should start with reading her comic.” She took a deep breath, she didn’t mean to be unfriendly or hostile but someone asking questions wasn’t something Robyn needed right now; she needed time to work through this on her own first. “And what would you even ask her? She has no idea what of the things she saw might be related to your pack, what might pose a threat. You would have to reveal a lot before she would be able to put everything in perspective. Are you sure that’s worth it? As I understand it you have seers, why would you need her? Ask one of your witches or something."
Sticks & Stones {Lu & Maha}Sept. 26th Morning
Needless to say Lu was impressed when Maha actually stepped in and played the part of casual acquaintance as they strolled through the store. Without hesitation she even drew closer to him, as if it was the most natural thing despite his obvious interrogation only a minute earlier. Finally, when there was a safe distance put between them and the shopper he listened not surprised in the least that Ray knew, but when she mentioned Magda his ears perked up. It bothered him to think his sister knew and didn’t say anything to him. In his heart he knew she didn’t confide anything, but to have her keep a hunter so close without his knowledge was upsetting. Lu was annoyed and his jaw tightened as he exhaled out his nose. Letting logic take hold he realized his agitation was at his sister and was misdirected at the huntress. His shoulders fell and he admitted. “I can tell you neither of them said a word to me. I was very surprised the night of Carnival.” The bookcase took his weight as she leaned against it very interested in her next statement. Lu liked to think he was a good judge of character and as she spoke of her family he could feel the intensity behind her words. He wanted to believe what she was saying after she provided such a powerful argument, however, he wouldn’t give in so easily. He nodded wanting to settle things for now knowing that in the future she may be pressed again to live up to those words. “Your friend Robyn, have you seen her around?” After having an interesting conversation with Petre he wanted to speak to her regarding the picture she drew depicting the Henrik attacks.
Maha could tell he was irritated and angry when she mentioned his sister and it took all her willpower not to step back and take a defensive stance. But only moments later he calmed back down and leaned against a bookcase and Maha let out the breath she had been holding in anticipation. “Well maybe she wasn’t sure and didn’t want to cause a scene for nothing?” she said quietly. She knew that something was up between the siblings, that something must have happened in their past, but she could not even guess what that might be. “Robyn?” she asked wearily when the shifter asked about her. “Actually no. She’s not talking to me. She hates me and feels betrayed and I cannot blame her. I lied to her for years after all,” she said her jaw clenching in frustration. Robyn now needed her more than ever and refused her help. “Why? What do you want from her?” she asked her brows furrowing. Her protectiveness for the younger woman flared up the moment the shifter mentioned her. “She knows nothing. There’s no reason to put her through any more stress with questions. She’s been interrogated already. Leave her alone.”
